I don't know why portions of the left have gone so insane over this. the number for Stalin also varies a lot depending on which deaths are counted. for example, the famine in the Ukraine, commonly called the Holodomor, is often falsely referred to as a genocide, and those deaths attributed erroneously to Stalin.

then there are some statistics which attribute war casualties to Stalin. these casualties sometimes include deaths in the red army, deaths in the nazi army, or both. I should not need to explain why this is problematic.
