More accurately, don't go to a store that sells used games to buy a new game.

Gamestop is only going to order enough stock to satisfy pre-orders because they make next to nothing off of new game sales. Conversely, if they sell the game used they are making like 50% profit. So why waste shelf space on a new game when you can use it to actually make money?

nothing wrong with buying a used game, you save a couple bucks

I don't know what sold PIT means.

But I saw the game in Walmart today sitting on shelves, tried to buy it, the system denied it and then I watched as the poor retail worker took like 40 copies of the game off the shelf... just to have to restock them tomorrow night.

How are they making 50% profit ? most people wont trade in a game for $20 when gamestop will then sell it for $40 as they could just sell it for that price, its so easy to sell games along other things online nowadays for a good price, be it facebook market place or other local pick up sites and even online via ebay or amazon.

And now you know the reason Gamestop is slowly going out of business... :)

They'll give you 4 bucks for a game then sell it for $57 and the next guy who comes in is like "wow what a steal"

Which is why Gamestop is struggling. Their high-margin used sales were the bulk of their revenue, but they no longer hold anywhere close to the same monopoly they used to have over the used game market (it was never a true monopoly, obviously, but they were definitely the biggest name around), plus digital sales have eroded that market considerably.

All we need is a law that allows transfers of digitally owned games.
