Damn near $100 for those American Spirits.

Glad I gave up smoking, i couldnt afford it these days.

I hate smoking with a passion. I hope these prices keep cigarettes out of the hands of kids and teens.

I quit almost thirteen years ago. It was way cheaper back then. I could get two packs for five bucks. Now it's six bucks a pack for the brand I used to smoke. No way I could afford to smoke now..

However, I do dip and chew tobacco and the dip has gotten a little ridiculous. What used to be a dollar a can is now five most places. But a can lasts awhile so it's not as terrible. Chew is crazy for the older brands, but one brand in particular makes a hell of a chew and it's two bucks a bag.

Where to get Carmel ones?

It's the cheapest and most immediate way to get a quick nicotine buzz. I buy a pack every month or two and use maybe half of it (the cigs go bad) for the random buzz.

I need to invest in real tobacco and a pipe but alas.

Cartons of cigarettes were over $100 Canadian 10 years ago. I have no idea how people afforded them. One of my co-workers gave up smoking last year, and has been tracking how many hours she's gone smoke-free, coupled with how much money she's saved. $6,000 in one year for cigarettes. Are you fucking kidding me?

Cartons are 10-packs of 20 cigarettes. So 200 cigarettes IIRC.

Why are the American Spirits $23 more than the Camels? Last I knew AS were cheap.

tobacco is, hands down, the most pointless drug i've ever tried. it's kinda sorta fun before you get addicted, but once you cross that line you're paying obscene amount of money to fuel a habit that, for the most part, makes you feel 'normal'. at least with other drugs you still get high every time.

I used to smoke and it's very nasty. It makes you and everything around you stink. Then you have to deal with ashes and reparatory problems you wouldn't normally have. It's fucking ridiculous that it's legal while less harmful drugs are not

imo cigarettes are officially not cool anymore. I dont think most teens these days see that as a cool thing to do

I don't see the appeal at all. I have smoked cigarettes socially when drinking at a few points in my life, but not exactly sure why I did.

I do enjoy a cigar sometimes nowadays. Maybe once a month on average. But that is a fun activity of getting a few guys together and having some Imperial Stouts or Scotch to go with it.

I smoked for around 5 years starting sometime in college but I only smoked a pack a week which was about $6. So $24/month wasnt too bad even as a broke college kid.

Glad I quit when I did though. Heavy smokers have it rough.

Tobacco taxes depend on the axiom that there's always money for smokes.
Piglovian taxes are always on sketchy moral and economic ground.

It's stupid expensive. Luckily I don't smoke that much. Depends on if I go out. If I stay inside for a week, I don't smoke cigarettes at all.

There are native brand cigarettes here for $46 a carton after tax. Still not worth it though, considering how bad it makes you and everything around you smell like shit. I switched to vaping around 2011-2012 and have been vaping ever since. I don't think I'll ever go without nicotine, and I doubt vaping is entirely safe- but I'd rather be vaping over burning tobacco. I had the unlucky pleasure of taking care of someone who died slowly due to lung cancer directly related to smoking cigarettes.
