Peak is declining, no news of another variant, any future variant will probably just be a less lethal, higher spread capability or just as lethal as omicron and more spreadable. Both outcomes seem like we're heading to the endgame. We're almost to the finish line.

It's a sub variant of omicron and it has omicron's virulence and delta's deadliness.

Omicron was not a milder strain, it was just as deadly as alpha, but far more virulent; it only seemed milder because we had a majority vaccinated.

Nah, they arent over. The COVID pandemic is losing steam, but the stupidity pandemic is gaining speed and seems to be very infectious.

According to South Park, it's not over till the 2060s (maybe).

This wave is on its way out (though still very present), but that didn't mean the pandemic was over the other four times it happened, and it similarly doesn't mean it's over now. It'll be over when either cases hit zero and stay there (astronomically unlikely at this point, given how unwilling so many people worldwide are to take the necessary steps to achieve that locally, let alone globally), or when it stops being a significant source of morbidity and mortality (which is going to require a combination of higher vaccination rates and some good luck with mutations, all before giving up other infection control measures that limit the damage it can do).

Many places are giving up, but that's very much a matter of political pressure and not public health.
