I had a lot to say about it haha. It is impossibly dumb and weird as hell, but I think I loved it? It is a movie I could've seen being number 1 or number 28 on a list and both people would've been right.

Yeah I could definitely see that too. But I absolutely adore it. It was one of the most exciting and fresh horror movies I've seen in a while. Dumb? Sure, yes, definitely, but i think it was dumb while also being daring, out-there, and so, so weird.

It was in my top five at the moment so I definitely agree. I'm actually glad I accidentally had it on the list because I hadn't seen it yet and it was absolutely worth the watch.

Malignant was a blast and also had a fantastic soundtrack

But looking at my ranking it probably would've placed like 14th because it's a really strong list

I got scared for a second there, because I started doubting whether Hereditary was on the list or not.

Theres a movie I saw before watching everything for the list that I was sure would be top five just from a quick glance. It wound up being in my bottom half and I still liked it quite a bit!

One more to go. I think we're going to have a big spread on several movies in the ranking: my #1 (barring something truly incredible from my last watch) will probably be in the 20s on a couple of lists, while a few movies that I can totally see in multiple people's top 5s are in my 20s.

Yeah, people's tastes are sure to differ. Two movies in my bottom 5 are sure to be ranked near the top of other lists.

But that's the fun of it. Can't wait to see how the final rankings shake out.

The Northman is intense and fucked up, but good, surprising no one. Pretty cool that Ari Aster got one of the few 'special thanks' credits at the end, and easy to see why. Definitely not horror but has horror elements. I say it's better than The VVitch but not as good as The Lighthouse.

Sorry to jinx it, but unfortunately, there's no way I'll be able to make the existing deadline. That being said, I'm so far behind and have been making so little progress that I'd rather you not extend the deadline just for my sake.

I'm sorry to hear that. Just out of curiosity how much longer would you need, just as an estimate?

I think I could participate with two more weeks as long as I committed myself, something which I admittedly haven't really done so far.

Actually have just one left and I want to rewatch some that I dont remember very well to see if my rankings shift around. I wouldnt be opposed to an extension but I will have my list in if it remains the 8th.

I have seven movies left to watch, but sadly still 18 write ups to do. I've been rambling way too much in the write-ups I've done so far (I'm at 23 pages of a word document already) and I have no clue if anyone is actually going to want to read them, but I like writing so I knew this would be a problem going into it. I at least feel like its helping me solidifying my ranking as I do tend to move things around a bit after I've written and had time to process things.

I might need a one day extension, but I probably won't know until the night of! The alternative is you have something like 25 overly detailed write-ups and then five that are like one sentence long haha.

I have 4 lists already, not counting mine - thesmark, Karo, Inviso, and Plasmabeam.

I'm not opposed to giving a small extension if need be, even if it's the night of - don't be shy, just let me know and I'll grant it.

I personally think small to mid-sized write-ups are best for a ranking topic like this (think 5-10 sentences) but by all means write what you feel. I know I'm going to read everything regardless.

Yeah, my goal was initially to write out what I wanted to and go back and edit into more readable, cohesive versions at the end (because I admit I do a lot of rambling here when trying to get my thoughts together), but at this point I'm almost certain I won't have time to edit. I won't be offended if people skip over mine but I also don't think I'm going to be able to get things down to the 1-2 paragraphs I wanted to at the start of this project. I need to budget more time earlier on if I try to do something like this again!

The 9th would be a pretty hard deadline for me regardless because I have a work trip the 10th through the 13th so I know I can't work on anything then. So what I have at that point is what I have.

Hahaha and I am just now discovering I somehow watched the wrong Lighthouse movie. This one is at least slightly less stupid on my part than watching a movie that wasn't even on the list, but still.

Tubi listed it as a 2018 thriller/horror movie, and I hadn't heard of either of these movies until I saw the list so I didn't know there was another one. imdb lists this as a 2016 movie so I dunno why Tubi has a different date. "oops"

Like the icon on Tubi is this creepy looking lighthouse and a dude hanging from it with lightning in the background. I'd be more embarrassed but it isn't close to the dumbest mistake I made in this topic.

To be fair some of the similarities between the two are pretty uncanny!

I did the same thing when I went to watch the first Escape Room movie

This is basically how I feel. I just finally watched and did the write-up for the first of the 8 movies on the list that I hadn't seen, but I should have the time to finish Sunday if need be.

Okay, I gave it some thought, and to alleviate some last-minute stress or time constraints for anyone I'm moving the due date up a little to Friday, May 13th. Enjoy the little extra time for more spooks and scares.

Ironically, no Jason movies on this list.

Nor were there any released, mainly due to development hell and rights issues, which seem to be nearly all cleared up now though.

Now everyone can do nothing for a week, then next week say "oh shit, I should probabaly do this"

Im confused by your question about the documentary Purge Anarchy.

Usually I'd go out and Purge a little but this year I just stayed hunkered down, it was a quiet one this time around.

I put all my movies in order, and then started doing write-ups, starting with 30th, working my way to 1st. With only 6 write-ups left to do, I'm sick of writing, and now I don't even want to talk about my 6 favorite movies. And my write-ups aren't even long or good. Maybe in a couple days...

Also, I think some people are going to hate some of these rankings. But I guess that's to be expected with a genre this wide and divisive. Should be fun to see how it plays out!

Yeah I kind of expect people will dislike mine too but we'll see!

Yeah, I fully expect my #26, #27, and #30 to appear on other people's Top 5s.

I would really hope my 30, 29 and 28 don't show up in anybody's top 5. My 27 might though
