There are SO many parts where Beav, Wally, and their friends just nonchalantly mention their dads hitting them, in those exact words.

There's one part where Beaver is punished for something small, and says "Are you gonna hit me dad?", and Ward laughs and puts his hand his shoulder and literally says "No, son, not this time!"

They also find cigarettes in one episode and June says "These can't be Wally's. He promised us he wouldn't smoke until he was older!" That was not a punchline

Naming your kid Beaver is pretty sketchy.

Moral Orel is a show that lampoons this era of television. Orel gets beaten at the end of every episode with a "forgotten commandment" that addresses the plot of the episode, with it being played for drama once in season 3 and otherwise being a source of irony for the rest of the show.

It's an incredible show that's been overshadowed by Rick and Morty. They fucked it over hard in season 3.

Most of the time Ward is confused/offended when Beaver blurts out asking if he's gonna hit him. Also, Eddie and Larry will often ask the both of them if their old man is gonna beat them for stuff. The Cleavers usually respond with stuff like "I don't think so".

I dont think Ward actually hit them much if ever. Eddie probably got beat. There's actually a lot of dark stuff that Eddie alludes to over the years regarding his family. You get the feeling that they didn't actually love him and this devastated him. Thankfully, Eddie stopped that chain when he had kids of his own in the sequel series.

No, it was never actually shown. I know Eddie seemed to have it bad, and I think Larry was the one who talked the most about his dad hitting him
