Like, youre the first generation to not know what its like to live life without social media, a casual-friendly internet, cellphones, etc. How are you going to shit on the generation immediately before you when youre literally still partaking in the same things that everyone has been doing for the past 10 years? This isnt the same thing when internet millennials began to go after boomers because that had economic and political validity to it. We didnt go after gen-x because hur hur, you old, me not old. Thats just dumb.

Yeah, I agree. You don't have Gen Xers obsessing over Transformers, or whatever the hell the popular thing for them growing up was, not on the scale I see Millennials obsess over Harry Potter. Same with Boomers, whatever the big childhood thing was for them, they had it, they have fond memories. But then you have Millennials into their 40s just obsessing over what's really young adult, at best, literature. I don't get it. Is it because of social media making it easier for people to connect and normalize their obsession rather than hide it? Is it because the internet has made it easier for any person to start up a small business and crank out crappy fan merch that hits nostalgia? Do women, and in my experience it's mostly women that obsess over Harry Potter, just think Daniel Radcliff is attractive? I don't fucking get it. I read the series to completion, and shrugged and went on with my life, I didn't build a whole subset of my personality around it.

I mean we have more in common with zoomers than either generational group has in common with crusty rich people. That's a given, due to our proximity in age and in boomer policy affecting us equally - ruining what's left of our futures to inherit and actively fucking the world in the ass for when the zoomers have to take over for us.

But with that being said, I think it's important to say that more than any sort of generational conflict, we should be looking at class conflict. Because there are plenty of people 40+ who've lived rough lives, who've been working class their entire lives and who are in the same boat as you or me - perhaps slightly less victimised due to benefitting from more equitable policies in their youth, or perhaps more so due to growing up uneducated and poor and cobbling their current life together on the strength of their lived experiences and will.

Like an entitled customer who goes out of their way to be a callous dickhead to make another person's day worse, an entitled little shit like Elliot Rodgers who's the child of movie producers and a rich Republican fuck who spends their life taking corporate bribes to diminish reproductive healthcare in their district have more in common with each other - even considering generational lines - than a 70 year old bricklayer, a 32 year old electrician and a 17 year old discovering political theory for the first time.

You might feel a bit embarrassed by the zoomer and not consider their inclusion legitimate, but at the end of the day they're exposing themselves to concepts that will ultimately align with your own struggles and the struggles of that 70 year old bricklayer as members of the working class, and the ones speaking up about that shit now will likely join the working class. There are as many rich little trust fund shits as there are flag-waving praxis-declaring lefties in gen z - just like in our generation, and the generations before - and in allying ourselves with the stereotypical "zoomer" demographic and supporting them, we uplift and protect each other. There's no reason to have this bullshit generational argument when what we go through is largely similar.

The people who keep supply chains running and do the physical labor - the people who understand hard work and struggle the most - tend to die before the fatcat pricks do. Old shitheads are in power because they've been able to grow old in power through having been born into power, or accruing it at a young enough age through the opportunities they were presented with that they can hold onto it for decades. That doesn't mean our conflict is along generational lines, because we have old people who understand the value of labor and the importance of fair governance and fair and equitable compensation. More than anything, this "boomer vs zoomer" conflict is about class - and by breaking it down into generational conflict where millenials bash zoomers for their stupid shit and vice versa, less people realise the root cause of all this bullshit.

People who are not even close to the age group are called boomers. Its less about class vs. class and more about meme sniffing social media programming. Ever notice the pattern of certain users picking up a phrase they saw posted somewhere else and hump it to sub atomic particles?

They used to say epic every other word. Rekt and melty come to mind. No different here. The meme sniffers just took baby boomer and made it another label like Karen.

TC is right. Zoomers aren't very different from millennials. There's almost complete overlap. The only difference is they grew up with the internet and smartphones and didn't experience life without them

But most of the ones I met are cool. Probably cause they're really not that different...

Generation Alpha is already here. Those kids are born between 2010 and 2025. My generation, Z, ended with births a while ago.
