I dont eat at fast food places but employees receive training before being allowed to make food.

What would be the difference between a 14 year old and a 16 year old making fast food? I don't think there's a significant change in the brain during those years that would affect the ability to make food.

lol. I worked fast food at 17. My training consisted of reading a book for five minutes about what goes on each sandwich and then being thrown on the line.

14 is probably old enough. Why not allow people as young as possible to work?

Could be a state thing as has been said, but I think here you can work fast food at 14 (although not a lot of places hire that young) but you are restricted to just like doing dishes and clearing tables and taking out trash etc, not food prep or taking orders/running the register.

Nope. When i worked at mcdonalds i saw a kid drop a patty, say "whoops" and proceed to put it back in the patty bin. I was young so i didnt think much of it.

Several things actually. Memorizing what goes on 15 to 20 different sandwiches was pretty daunting. But more to the point, I was probably too young to realize when things were going wrong. The types of things that your supervisor says are fine. Like the rusted trays we cooked muffins in, meat sitting out, liquid eggs that sat out next to the stove all morning, spatulas dropped on the dirty floor, etc. The further you move away from people with actual life experience then the worse service youre going to get.
