Every little task and mission feels stretched out and Arthur controls like hes underwater.

I get that they were going for realism and immersion or whatever but the reason I play video games is because real life mundane activities are boring and time consuming to complete.

Then do more research on the games before you buy them. You should of known what RDR2 was by now. It's definitely on you. I'd get you if it was marketed as a straight up action game and then threw this all in and it wasn't 3 years after it was already out

Yeah. Right around when I learned I needy to keep changing his clothes depending on the environment or some kind of stamina potential would go down I was like "oh wow this is a lot of micromanagement for a game where the combat is basically spray n pray I don't know if I want to think about this that hard". RDR 1 was great because it was a sandbox where I could do anything, ecen summon another horse if my idiocy got it killed hilariously. Bit suddenly the sandbox has too many rules.

What is the point of these sentences? Am I not allowed to criticize the game just because I chose to purchase it? Also I wish the internet would pick a stance, I thought Fuck these bought reviews, play it for yourself and make up your own mind was the cool mentality to have.

Well that's where putting graphics and processing power over gameplay as well as judging a game based on the length of an average playthrough compared to its price tag will get you.
The slower you're forced to walk in those exposition segments, the better value for money these people think.

Not even close to what I implied. I was implying you watch gameplay videos or breakdowns and jusge for yourself if it's a game that sounds like playing. There's a lot of youtubers out there that objectively break down games without forcing their stance on you.

No game is universally agreed on about anything >_>. There's this thing called preferences we humans tend to have. You didn't do the research to make sure the game you were buying catered to your preferences.

Honestly I liked that about it. The mundane moments were what really elevated the overall experience and made it feel more simulation-like and not just like a game. Tbh I would have preferred they take a harder line on that type of stuff, but I think they had to strike the right balance in order to still market it as a AAA game and not a niche title

I feel like I'm a rare type of rdr2 player but I put about 40 hours into it without ever finishing chapter 3 and explored every inch of the map (that I could) and got my fill of all the game loops it had to offer, from trade to wagons to hunting to bounty hunting to fishing.

I have absolutely 0% interest in completing the next 25+ hours of story missions let alone new side quests that will pop up, so I uninstalled it before ever finishing C3. There's an exhausting amount of dialog, banter, and tertiary animations for literally everything that makes Arthur control like a cow in a shopping cart on ice.

I like it and find it very immersive, which I feel they were really making it a main goal to get the player immersed in the world. It can be a bit clunky sometimes mainly with the weapon wheel and horses, but overall I love the game.

Your problem with me seems to be that I give context to the misleading things people are saying. You shouldn't be emotionally invested in hating a game. It's one my favorite games. So, at least it makes sense for me to be invested in correcting misleading information. I don't want people who also don't do research like you, taking the misleading comments you guys make and having that be their insight on it. You yourself are proof that even 3 years later, not everyone really has insight on the game.

Edit: Yup, Im a fan of the game Im defending. Good read on me. You got some x ray vision on you.

No. It counts as you having confirmation bias. Since you think a topic baiting negative comments overwrites all the actual reviews and status of the game lol. Also, I like how you say I have dismissal of all it's problems when we never actually talked about the game in any real way. We been stuck on you not being able to accept an apposing view point. Because you're easily convinced a game that won a bunch of awards is bad because you found a few people who agree with you lol.

So the research only counts if it supports that slow, boring gameplay is a good thing? Again, I didnt know what anyone else was gonna say, seems like the general consensus is that you are the outlier here, not me. And this opposing preference you have is simply defending the bad game design of a game you love.

Coincidentally, I was the same way until I researched RDR2 and prepared myself for a slow drawn out experience. I wasn't even gonna buy it until a couple days leading up to it, when I thought all the minor detail information coming out was interesting. It led me to be more patient if I'm prepared for a similar game. Like, not having combat in TLoU2 for the first hour is fine if you prepare for it. But it's tedious as hell if you're putting on a game to get to the action. It's just a matter of trying to take it in like you would a movie. But there's definitely nothing wrong with being a gamer that wants a game to be a game and a movie to be a movie. But for people who like games to give them a movie like experience, we have games like this. I use to see walking sections as a plague. But now it's cool of it's got good lore and story telling going with it. Give you some environment to analyze.

I remember sitting down at camp and it was raining, and everyone was drinking and dancing and having a good time. The conversation among everybody just kept going into the wee hours of the night and some went to bed and others stayed up and bullshitted with each other. I probably had Arthur sit there (in reality time) for like half an hour/hour listening and watching.

And this is a video game. Like its insane the amount of work that went into every little detail.

i feel like this is what the opinion on the game comes down to.

everyone says they like immersion and shit but the ones who like this game really do and the ones who dont think they like it or like super small amounts of immersion.

thats how it always comes off to me at least. I liked RDR2 cause it felt like a living breathing world so all the tedious shit didnt bother me so much. Most games I plow through or just ride the action fun part because the worlds boring as fuck so it never tricks me into being immersed.
