That said, I still need to unlock psychoshock in the first place. Also, I think I'll end up needing the additional psi energy neuromods too

Edit: unlocking psychoshock shouldn't be a problem, since I just need mind controlled humans for it

It's a necessity.

Works on anything that attacks with powers, including Nightmare.

Nightmare is like twenty feet tall and doesn't really need fireballs to kill you but every bit helps.

Psychoshock is brokenly good. Like I'd almost argue to not pick it up because it just fucks up so many enemies so badly.

Just made it to deep storage. The chef seemed like a nice guy, the poltergeist gave me a jump scare and the final run through the arboretum with no ammo, coupled with the nightmare as soon as you enter deep storage was a struggle. I ended up hiding inside a shaft the entire time

I got psychoshock. I would argue it isn't necessarily broken (so far) due to the cooldown. It's definitely been useful, that's for sure.

Don't get me wrong, the game is overall great. One moment I really liked, for example, was Danielle Sho asking her crush out, complete with screwed up post it notes on the floor with all of her drafts. Moments like that are just amazing

I think I'll take some time to de-stress and take another crack at it tomorrow. Maybe revert to an earlier save and stock up on ammo before going to deep storage

Ended up playing some more after all. Danielle is alive, her crush is not. And the chef is the killer...

Though that makes sense. His TransScribe had no accent whereas the cook himself did. Details!

There are a few clues like that. The other one I remember is that the real chef is listed as deceased in the crew log.

Another thing I noticed at the time but only just registered is that I saw emails between him and Morgan, but when I met him in person the name M Yu didn't mean anything to him at all

I'm hoping that this ends up being a moral choice type thing (the fake chef killed her, but she was possessed by a telepath so is it right to kill him for it? for example)

By the way, I would highly recommend playing the Mooncrash DLC after you beat the main game. Really good DLC, unless you're completely repulsed by the idea of any roguelike elements in your games.

My only experience with roguelikes is Hades and that was great, though it's more of a roguelite now that I think about it

Made it into the cargo bay and did the associated quests. It's a shame that almost everyone other than the chief died during the shootout with the turrets vs the Typhon, I wonder if it could have gone differently

I just stacked like 5-7 turrets in front of the door in a half circle and it worked very well.

Shit, I had a a Nightmare assault that position and get wrecked.

...oh. I only had three turrets <_<

anyway, I got the reactor working. Getting back up was a pain but gloo gunning the elevator shaft seemed to work well. Saved the Russian lady, who I seemed to be close with, and went back to my office. Gonna do a few side quests before I go up to meet Alex in his office. One I just did ended up with me listening to Morgan's psych eval explaining how she's sick of the tests. so January seems to be on the level about that at least

Your topic has made me want to play Prey again. Only ever played through it one time, and I meant to return to it some day. Arkane is good at making replayable games.

The best immersive sims have great replayability. The newer DE games are good in that regard too

Yeah, reading this made me start playing it again, and having a great time with it all over again.

It's been long enough that I roughly remember what I'm meant to do, alternate ways to access certain areas, and where the tense moments are, but I still get caught off guard by the occasional mimic attack.

Incidentally, did they add some stuff to the main game since Mooncrash? There were new starting options that weren't there last time I played, and I don't remember there being a NG+.

Love them, but this is a whole different level.

It's honestly difficult to think of things the developers didn't anticipate.

The comparatively much smaller environment is a huge factor, though.

I was a lot more powerful by the time I got there than you are now, though.

Plus I had the license to build turrets.

And (so far) I'd give the edge to the two new DEs. That said, this is also a phenomenal game (once again, so far)

Spamming Neuromod production was my shit.

I started a NG+ to mess around before moving on, I had very little to finish getting.

Spent all day in bed. Will likely spend the evening in bed too

So, met up with Alex and heard him out. I liked his idea tbh.

Colonel Dickhead or whatever arrived. Took care of his tech officer, choked the bastard out before finding a way into the office he was inside and giving my peeps their air back. Hit him with my wrench a few times but otherwise left him unconscious

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way a Nightmare chased me into my office and killed both mikhaila and the doctor. On the plus side, I killed my first nightmare

Went back to Alex, he went over his plan. And then it all went to shit. Got Alex back into his hidey-hole and went back to my office to fabricate both the nullwave device and the arming key. Now I need time to decide what I should do. Nullwave would be the most humane option in terms of human deaths, but there's no guarantee it'll work. On the other hand, even if I blow up the space station it doesn't necessarily mean I'll blow up the giant alien around it.

Interestingly, I found a transcribe from myself saying my backup operator was not January, but rather a different month.

Edit: i upgraded my wrench fully and decided to only carry shotgun instead of pistol and shotgun in order to sort out ammo problems. So now I guess Morgan really is a lady attacking everything with wrench^^

i'll post what I did in a bit, but god damn that post credits scene. I need to process it

I went to psychotronics to deploy the nullwave device. January told me not to scan the apex and despite my best efforts, I couldn't scan the apex. Freed a guy called Aaron Ingram, deployed the Nullwave and went to the bridge. Listened to January and Alex argue while I looted the bridge and destroyed the ship going to Chicago, then used the stun gun on January and activated the Nullwave.

Roll credits. Learned that two legends in their respective fields worked on this game: Avellone and Mick Gordon

That post-credits scene tho. Most of the operators spoke out in favour of me, and I took Alex's hand. Seems the Earth is covered in golden stuff though, so I didn't do everything right.

So if I'm understanding things correctly: what happened overall is what happened to Morgan, but I the typhon was able to make potentially different choices to her in order to have my level of empathy assessed?

You're the last-ditch effort to try to create a bridge between human and Typhon, because as it stands Typhon is gonna eat everyone.

I liked it a lot. My only problem was with the combat. Everything else is top notch, bordering on genius.

I won't be playing Mooncrash straight away. This is my second intense game in a row after VLR and I need something a bit more chill. That said, I definitely plan on coming back to this at some point

The gunplay is pretty nonexistent and powers are a bit awkward, yeah.

It's an absolute masterclass in creating a world though.

Powers were the best bit of the combat, so the game discouraging you from doing too much with them was a bit weird

The world was amazing and the characters felt real. There were little touches everywhere that were just chef's kiss

Prey was a lot of fun. Wouldnt mind going through it again.

I kinda liked the gunplay actually even though you only have a few "real" weapons in the shotgun, pistol, and wrench. But I thought that your whole arsenal ended up being useful, which is always nice in a game I think.

It's weird to me that Arkane went from Prey and then to Deathloop. The latter is a much shallower game.

In fairness, a lot of people absolutely love it. I think a good bit of it depends on if you like the multiplayer aspect of it. I found it to be more tiring than fun, so I turned it off and the game is balanced around it being on.

I see. I tend to turn that stuff off, for example in Watch Dogs 2 and Dark Souls Remaster

Yeah, I agree. And don't get me wrong, I love Deathloop, and spent like 60 hours Steam plat'ing the thing, but it's definitely different from everything before it. I'm nervous about Redfall.

Oh, you know what though, Arkane has two different teams. One in France, one in Texas. The former worked on Deathloop while the latter worked on Prey.
