Yesterday I was walking in an open area, heard a rocket and a second later I was reloading my save.

Then I went up some stairs and triggered a mine. I tried to run away but Dogmeat had it out for me and blocked the stairs.

And then after that... I guess the game crashed and I also abused idiot savant.

When I started playing Elder Scrolls games, I got in the habit of quicksaving very often. Most of the computers I have played them on have had frequent crashes to the desktop. My new computer has only done it three times.

Quick saves are great until you do it right after going through a door that has a trap on the other side of it and youre stuck in a death loop.

That's why you should always supplement quick saves with staggered normal saves. Especially in Bethesda games, where shit coding means game-crashing bugs and glitches wait around every corner to destroy hours worth of gameplay.

I'm currently annoyed because the forced anniversary update they did to Skyrim SE essentially introduced entirely new bugs that occasionally make it impossible to save and/or corrupt save files. Bethesda is no longer content completely fucking up new games, now they have to go back and make old ones even worse.

One time I mistakingly painted Fenway Parks Green Monster blue. I didnt realize I was supposed to mix yellow and blue or whatever, I though it was all part of the story mission or whatever, but then I found out its unfixable

I was heartbroken because Im a Red Sox fan and painted the wall Yankee Blue, so I wanted to reload my last save, but it was like 2+ hours previously. I was fuckin pissed but I had to do it, never made that mistake again

they typically make a checkpoint save of right before entering the door specifically in case that happens

That doesn't always help. Sometimes the auto-save puts you in a fucked position, sometimes you've gone in and out of doors in rapid succession so by the time you revert you're too far past the problem, and sometimes it's been ages since you've been through a transition point or opened your inventory so the last autosave is ages ago.

Easier by far to just rely on your own quick saves and some staggered saves.

I remember when I was stuck in a death loop in Skyrim. I just reloaded the previous autosave.
