They hadn't actually shown the game, they didn't have a real date, and obviously I'm going to prefer they prioritize keeping XIV on schedule as much as possible. Also the writing for this has been on the wall for quite a while. YoshiP wasn't going to allow an undercooked game to show, much less release. All hands were on deck for Endwalker, as well as all eyes from outside.
