There are no health benefits to drinking alcohol and honestly the taste just isnt good, whether it's beer, wine, hard liquor, etc.

I dont go out a lot anymore and I honestly hate drinking at home. I hate the feeling of being bloated from beer, and I hate it because you get warm. I hate feeling hot in my house

I never wanted to drink or do drugs because of my dad's issues. I tried it when I was 30 and didn't like the stuff any way.

I got drunk once. I felt nothing. A little dumber.

Never had any interest in doing it again. I have a healthy social life and am married and it's never been an issue.

my mom has never drank in her entire life. neither had either of my grandmas. I can believe the 30% very easily

Alcohol addiction is runs heavy on both sides of my family. Couple that with an already addictive personality, and I've just decided to avoid it and drugs all together.

I have like 2 drinks a day.

I'm assuming we're talking about alcohol. If so, I don't really see anything wrong with this study... I will say that I'm not sure I can fully trust those numbers because people sometimes like to make themselves look good. But it could be true. Also, that seems to be the far ends of the study. The non-drinkers, and the heavy drinkers. That could be from people who go to clubs or bars all the time, and who drink at home after that. Or the people who party on the weekend. I assume the rest are closer to a reasonable number... I also haven't read the other posts in this topic... yet...

As for me, Idk where I am. Changes all the time. I use to go out drinking every weekend when I was on the line. Stopped for a few years while in debrief. Starting again for about 2 months while in ALS, then stopped again. Until a few years ago when I started debrief again, and start drinking while watch anime on the weekend with a friend. And drinking a little after work on the weekdays while watching NetFlix and playing video games...

I haven't drank Alcohol in like 3 years, I prefer pot now that it's legal here

If we're including proper alcoholics:

A fifth (750 mL bottle) of typical 80 proof vodka contains about 17 "drinks" by the usual definition.

A fifth a day is not particularly challenging for a proper alcoholic.

Do that every day and it's 119 drinks in a week.

I can readily assure you, I surpassed that at times in my life

It's not that hard to believe. Almost everyone I know is an alcoholic of some degree.

It makes them feel insecure about the amount they are drinking. If you and your buddy both drink a case a day, they don't think twice about it. If one drinks a case, and the other doesn't, they are afraid they might be judged as an alcoholic.

I'll drink if it's there or if it's free, but I won't go out of my way. Alcohol doesn't do much for me. That means that overall, I may drink several times a year.

It's not imported but it's made from the recipe they use there.

A lot of people who don't drunk for religious and health reasons.

I don't care for alcohol mainly due to my fathers addiction. Occasionally I'll have a drink however rarely will finish it. To be honest I don't want to end up like him.

Alcohol tastes bad. Saying "you need to get used to its flavor" is the most awful way for adicts to cope with their addiction IMO. Why the fuck would I want to get used to a bad taste for something that is unhealthy (and costly) for me?

I've been 100% sober for 2.5 years now but it was a crazy road to get here because I was a heavy drinker for 13 years.

I used to drink socially, but I haven't really had any reason to drink for the last couple of years. So I would count among the 30% I suppose.

Not all of it does. Depends on which ones you drink Ive had plenty that taste awesome, and plenty that taste awful

i watched two people drink themselves to death growing up, so it's never really been all that appealing to me anyway. did finally have a drink at 26, but turns out i really don't like the taste all that much anyway.

Alcohol in general is an acquired taste and it can be subjective, but I believe There's plenty that taste pretty damn good that aren't bitter or have a bad aftertaste. Notably beer. Porters, wheat beer, some craft beer, some sours and fruit based ones are good.

IPAs and generic beers don't taste great.

I never found an alcoholic beverage I actually liked, and I don't enjoy being drunk either. I can drink a rum and coke if there's a social situation where drinking is expected, but otherwise I don't bother with it.

The easiest thing to do when it comes to alcohol or drugs is to never start.

My tolerance is too high for it to really be worth it and I have never found a single drink that I cared for the taste. I think people build up a tolerance for the awful taste of alcoholic drinks because they like getting drunk and I just never hit that stage.

I work in a restaurant with a full bar; definitely drink a LOT more than I used to ever since I started working there, with after-shift drinks and such.

Even then 72 drinks sounds like a lot even for my most alcoholic co-workers.

On a really heavy week, I can't imagine going over 30. And that's a REALLY heavy week.

Its possible you havent had a good one. There are plenty that dont taste bad. Especially plenty of mixed drinks. Some drinks are an acquired taste (like how some foods are), but plenty taste good right from the start Even some of the custom ones. Actual, especially the custom ones Haha.

I always just drank mixed drinks and laughed at people sipping on disgusting stuff while I could down a margarita in 5 seconds >_>
