It seems like it's legit serious? They already signed a contract and are planning to do a private wedding. They haven't collabed on camera much but seems they've been seeing each other for a while and knew each other since school. They were attracted to each other for a long ass time or something

100% Coco's graduation stream. Just legendary. I watched it in real time and it's something you never forget. Speaking of which, Haachama celebrated Coco's 2nd year anniversary today. o7

For other streams, I have no idea. I only started watching the streams since July, basically since after Coco's graduation. Hololive Sports Festival is definitely up there, as well as the other company-wide collabs like Mario Kart or HoloEN Halloween or NijiEN. Haachama's first drinking stream since she turned 20 IRL. Elira and Finana's drinking stream where Twerking DCL first originated. Kanata's blue axolotl, Calli's Shiny Giratina, all successful endurance streams for shiny rates. All off-collabs, like the Kanata/Marine/Noel bath stream or Calli/Irys karaoke. I'm probably forgetting a bunch.

Not in my favorites, but another notable one for me was Miya Kimino's graduation streams. Started watching her in early 2019 back when indie VTubers were still dominant so it was sad to see her go.

Bae's Big Minecraft Endurance (featuring png tower and meltrys)

Myth anniversary stream (everybody cryin' let's go)

Calli's Earthbound Cooking stream (both because the menu is gnarly and because it's legit a good time to watch)

realized that I asked it without really having a good idea of my own top 5 <_< so I thought about it a bit

honourable mention to coco's graduation stream, which was definitely was legendary but felt weird on a list of top streams where the rest were all such positive stuff

For me, it was...

1. The first Rosemi Cooking stream.
2. Drunk Selen stream(hilarious if you haven't watched it).
3. Pomu/Melody Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes(I think that's the name of the game) stream.
4. Uruka's all-out Karaoke that was megascuffed.
5. Pretty much all of Finana's Song of Horror run thus far. Second part(iirc) with her getting lost in the maze forever, pausing the stream for a legit business meeting with her manager, coming back and finishing it in basically no time.

End of the year has been packed with great stuff.

Out of curiosity, why do people actively go out of their way to watch small vtuber/streamers? I don't get the appeal, personally.

Personally, a lot of the time it's just random curiosity. Hololive feels very... corporate to me? They're pretty reserved in what they do, so I drifted to indies because they worked their way in to my feed eventually and it just vibed with me better. Happenstance led... pretty much all of them that I watched going to NijiEN though.

Other than that, it's usually game choice/activity choice. If someone's playing a game I enjoy, I check out the stream.

Smaller communities can be nice. And those streamers are more likely to play whatever they want (though they still run the meta a lot o the time). I don't know what more there is to understand if you're already watching holo chubas

I assume it's a combination between wanting to support those indie VTubers that were around before Hololive and Nijisanji became popular, and not wanting to watch mainstream content. Not sure if it's going out of their way but sometimes it just ends up that way, maybe like recommended clips on your homepage leads you down to wanting to watch the streamer. I watch Mirai Akari and I didn't go out of my way to watch her. I was handed a list of popular Japanese VTubers around NYE 2018, and they were all indies that wanted to become more popular and the communities were wanting to support their content. Miya Kimino was on that list too (followed her because it described her as being Japanese/English bilingual), as well as Nekomiya Hinata. No Hololive/Nijisanji livers were on that list despite some talents having already been debuted at the time.

I assume when you start out at Kizuna Ai, one of the roads follows you down to Kaguya Luna, then maybe HimeHina and Siro, and you just get stuck at indies. Some of these indies have surprisingly complicated software. It's very nice to see them grow when they're not in the big 2 companies.

it's kinda crazy to think that gura, ame, and ina have never seen another person who works for hololive irl before, not counting video calls

There are definitely more than 5 in a big blob that I want to include but it's hard to say what's definitively better

Now that I think about it, any one of the SN streams would also be my top 5. They really know how to party, and it's no big question why they're still the most active JP Construction team, though I think they party hardy more than build things lol

I forget if the Flare/Miko/Suisei GTA stream was this year, and that's also possibly top 5 too. Yeah 5 streams are too little and far too many streams happened for me to be sure, but now that I've remembered them, they'd be top 5 easy
