You know, like, where they're demanding 4+ years of experience in a computer code that's only been out for 1 year, or demanding three college degrees and 10+ years experience for a job that pays less than the minimum wage? What's the worst you've seen/heard of?

The ones that always annoy me are the "must live or move to X city" jobs that recruiters send to me all the time when my Linkedin profile clearly states "unable/unwilling to relocate". That is even ignoring the fact that my profile also says "not looking right now".

I can barely solder, I've never done any welding in my entire life, my resume isn't even remotely like that of a welder, and my normal payrate is about double that.

WTF, welders here make about 50 bucks an hour. What area do you live that he thinks he can pay a welder so little?

A place trying to get someone who can barely solder and under pay them for work by offering them something that seems great to someone with a resume below it based on what Capt said.

Anyways I haven't done job hunting since covid so I can't speak recently and I don't recall any exceptionally awful job offers but I know in my early 20's I was in a 2 year program on networking and was looking for some sort of computer tech / repair work to get some kind of experience in it. Part time entry level work had job listings asking for 4 or 6 years of experience. The only call I got was Best Buy and they waited until I got there to tell me they don't hire that position externally, despite listing it and calling me for it, and had me interview for a phone salesman position. I should have walked out, but I was baffled and off my guard and just went along with it since I already had my nerves up over an interview in the first place. All I got for my time was a "You seem low energy, we might call you" I was so fucking pissed off. I actually ended up just not signing up to continue my classes because I was so demoralized from the whole 6 months I spend trying to get my foot in the door.

I'm stuck in retail now. I'm sure I'd have better luck if I went looking now but I'm pretty sure I'd get around half the 40k a year I'm making now if I tried to switch career paths.

Years ago I had to take a test to apply for a public school teaching position that started at like 37k.

In order to be an applicant, they required you to take a test before hand. The test went something like this:
150 logic questions
You had 2 minutes to complete each question. If you went past the 2 minutes on any 1 question, you failed. You had 3 opportunities to try and finish the test.

Needless to say, I didn't even bother with the job. I'm not sure if they ever found a sucker to jump through that hoop.
