People fucking suck.

Stealing a an automotive part just to sell for scraps. Now I'm looking/scrounging for some additional money to get this fixed, but not even sure if I want to, and if I do I'll have to look for additional security on my vehicle, because nothing is stopping them from doing it again.

But seriously, Bartz, Wigs, MSG and I once did a quest like this. I assume it's on the moon.

All you need is 4 vault hunters and some space Australians

Happened to a friend's Prius. It sucks, but apparently it's become more and more common. You can usually get some to weld a plate/cage over the the catalytic converter after you get a new one installed.

Society is circling the drain. Laws are constantly being passed to make it more and more difficult to put criminals in jail, combined with the opiate epidemic. I'm lucky in living on a cul de sac with a police officer living on the corner of the adjoining street. Only issue we had was one crackhead trying to get into cars, but the cop was walking his dog at the time and chased the shitstain off.

It is funny because crime has actually been steadily decreasing but societies perception has changed due to their access to the rest of the world instead of their small little bubble.

That's not true at all. Maybe violent and more serious crime is down, but the sheer amount of theft, harassment, vagrancy, etc are all way up. And it's impossible for the police to keep up with it which just causes it to spiral out of control as people realize they can steal bikes/power tools/anything not bolted down, trade them in for their daily fentanyl fix, and never suffer any long term repercussions.

And because the cops can't keep up, people stop reporting the crimes and will eventually start taking things into their own hands. 10 years ago you could leave a bike chained up at a store and never worry about it, or walk down the street without some scumbag asking you for money and/or cigarettes

Actually, crime as a whole has decreased but things like say, burglary, have decreased at a rate that is basically double the rate violent crime has decreased.

I'm sure they've likely increased on a year to year basis(Pandemic has definitely made things screwy), but the idea that society has been on some sort of decline is simply not true, and when the crime stats are released it is unlikely they would go back 10+ years of data.

Hell the type of crime we've had the biggest increase in has likely been murder(Was up 30% last year), simply because as a country we've made it particularly easy to kill each other compared to most first world countries.

I had the wheels stolen off my car last year. Got woken up by a knock on the door at 4am by a police officer letting me know (they noticed while driving by). Talk about an awful way to start your day!

Thankfully insurance covered the replacements and fixing the damage done because of the car sitting on those plastic cartons. And now I've got wheel locks and park in a garage...

Vehicles have always been the target of things like this. When we were younger it would have been the stereo/CD player instead, but those have no resale value now. I'm sorry it happened to you, but at least they didn't do worse.

Also I just put my first person on ignore.
