"It takes place in a 1960s Antarctic city called Borealis. [The game is] codenamed Parkside Ive been told that the development team has incredible latitude to get it right. That seems and sounds right to me."

"Internally the game is very secret and apparently, totally locked up. Apparently the inclination there is that they understand full well that this game will be compared to what [BioShock creator] Ken Levine does. And by the way, [Take-Two] is also publishing Levines next game."

Roughly speaking:
BS1 was untethered capitalism
BS2 was untethered theocracy
BSI was untethered nationalism

Will BS4 be untethered science? An Arctic research base/city seems like a natural location for that angle.

Antarctic city called Borealis.
Borealis as in aurora borealis AKA the northern lights? And the city is located in Antarctica where the southern lights aurora is instead called aurora australis?

Lol who's the bloke who fucked that one up assuming the rumor is real?

First you injected plasmids
Then ya drank em

They gonna come in pill form this time?

Also, 1960? I think race/gender relations will be this game's political backdrop this go around

I would think the cold war would be the main backdrop, especially given that both the US and Russia invested heavily in arctic bases. Most of the actual development was in the north, so having a Bioshock that takes place in a secret, undiscovered southern pole base would make sense.

Meh, as much as I the series. BS2 is the one I dont return to. Love a lot of the gameplay. But the story is really inconsistent with the rest of the games. And the level design, is a little wonky. But I loved the big sister part.

However unless KL is in charge. Chances are I won't purchase it.

Still if it's a thing. Hope the game has success and everyone keeps on making games.

I'm excited for a new BioShock game

I'm NOT excited at the prospect of it being like the first game, but in Antartica, which is what this premise sounds like. Burial At Sea already sucked off the first game plenty; let this game be it's own thing if they're going for this setting and not just "the first game but in a cold setting"

It's funny because it's called Bioshock because it was a spiritual successor to System Shock. So they could do that again.

Although I guess nothing else sounds as good as those two. Ice Shock. Freezeshock?

I both feel this way and would gladly accept another game. Alot of people hated infinite but I still liked it. Neither sequel really captured the magic of the first though.

It sounds like a cool idea, if they play it like The Thing meets At The Mountains Of Madness with some AVP vibes but minus all the monsters. Obviously, Bioshock comes with this expectation that the players will explore a secret society's bustling city, chalk full of futuristic technologh with a retro twist. The Arctic will not be less than challenging to accomplish with that.

In fact, maybe they can show us something we've never quite seen before.

There really aren't thstany pretty games set entirely in an ice zone. If they can just kinda sell us Bioshock 1 with the level of activity seen in the Infinite beta, then really what's to complain about? What's the game that you want to play?

The most fun I've had in the series is nailing Splicers to the wall as a Big Daddy in 2

Also I keep misreading the topic title as saying that it's going to take place in 1960 Atlantic city, which to be fair also makes a good dystopian cautionary tale about a failed city that collapses under the weight of its own sin.

Even Frozen kinda sucks IMO and I do like Frozen

It's .. I mean . Christmas Town. Thats it. It's more barren than the desert. Even subaquatic fantasy cultures got more going on for them. Snow people isn't really a thing. We have more dreams about people on the moon tbh

Very untouched territory and notoriously hard to pull off. That being said, as an Echo Night fan who also enjoys their fair share of point and clicks and FPS narratives like The Darkness... And as someone who is still captivated by the other great settings like FarCry 2 or Portal, I see the value. Especially for a first-person post apocalyptic adventure like Bioshock.
