Board 8 > Disco Elysium playthrough topic, kind of? Spoilers?

This game both has me captivated and feeling very very dumb. It throws a lot of complex systems and a LOT of heavy dialogue at you right out of the gate. But it's also hilarious and creepy and super intriguing.

Brief rundown of what I've done so far

• Chose the Feeling archetype
• Put on a tie that keeps talking to me
• Flirted with a woman that didn't appreciate it
• Met Kim, a detective I'm working with
• Made enemies with the bar manager but also got him to drop what I owe from 120 down to about 30 re-al
• Fell asleep (me, not the character, while playing) and woke up by the hanging man at the tree, and don't remember how I got there. Made enemies with a bratty kid and then threw up
• Got made fun of by the entire police department
• Broke into the backroom of a bookstore behind some weird curtains
• My rhetoric convinced me to bring back communism?

anyway I have no fucking idea what I'm doing but it definitely has my curiousity

also, the writing in this game is just absolutely phenomenal, some of the best I think I've ever seen in a game, and the way all your different "aspects" (not entirely sure what to call them or how they work) interact with you is so compelling

Actually, I lied. The one thing I'll recommend is that, if you see a bed in the final area, take a nap.

Which aspects are you focusing on? All of them are great though.

I went with the feeling archetype, which gave me 1 Intellect, 5 Psyche, 4 Physique, and 2 Motorics.

Inland Empire is by far my highest at 8 (apparently I learned an extra level in it, but I don't recall doing that)

Going to hijack a tad, One thing I always wondered, do you solve the overall mystery different ways depending on your stats? I was intellect focused and solved it intellectually and wondered if it was different if you were something else.

Inland Empire was my 'main' stat. Its dialogue is too good.

But the game is awesome, with the caveat that some of the conversations were really long and drawn out.

Currently still in that bookstore back room and it's... Did I break through the 4th wall (literally)? Because there's stuff back here about a low-budget team making a invented world in a complex RPG and it feels super meta

I haven't done anything to him! Not directly, anyway, mostly just embarrassed him over and over again by being completely incompetent and attacking inanimate objects and rambling to myself.

Definitely make sure you save periodically. All too easy to lose progress when something dumb happens. Especially if your physical or mental HP is low. My first game ended two minutes after I stepped outside the Whirling-in-Rags because I picked an option that made me feel bad about myself and then I died.

I failed worse. The frequency with which I roll 2's and 12's in this game is mathematically impossible.

I found my ledger in the dumpster and a hidden compartment in the clipboard and read a card and then the game cut to black and took me to the title screen

So now I have three finished thoughts and three more to internalize but I'm out of slots, not sure how to unlock more yet

You can spend a level up point on a slot instead of an attribute

I got overwhelmed with how many thoughts I wanted to use and ways to play mid-way through and wasnt sure how I wanted to proceed. I always meant to try playing it over from the top. Good luck!

Seems like I need to do the "Get your shut together" thought to actually examine this body without throwing up

You can remove thoughts with a point too, if you decide you don't like the effects of what you internalized.
