I kind of am. Mostly because I'm just curious to see what they do with it.

I can see a scenario where the movie is really good. I can also see scenarios where it's absolutely terrible.

I don't think the character is inherently terrible if it's done right. The question is whether or not it's done right.

It's because in the 70s, the Comics Code was kind of draconian about what you could show in a comic book. Anything "supernatural" was generally banned because it was considered to be too much like "horror" (and killing horror comics was a large part of the goal of the Comics Code in the first place).

Vampires and "wolfmen" weren't allowed. So they made Morbius a vampire who wasn't a "real" vampire, who got his powers via science rather than magic or a curse, and they called him the "living vampire" (which doesn't really make much sense when you think about it). His origin is more or less similar to Spider-Man's, just with a bat instead of a spider (it's also sort of similar to the Lizard's, where deliberately taking a serum based on animal blood partly turns someone into that animal).

And the Comics Code Authority was basically like, "Ehh, okay, cool", because the Comics Code was always something of a joke anyway.

Well, Sony's been wanting to do a Spider-Man Extended Universe for almost 10 years now, so it might feel a little dated if they came up with the idea a long time ago.

I also think it's bullshit that they're trying to tie this to the MCU using Vulture and Scorpion

The lack of blood? They literally take the life essense of other creatures to sustain themselves as they themselves do not have life in them.

Morbius is one of my favorite Marvel heroes. Morbius #1 was the first comic book I ever bought with my own money.

Thus, I am most definitely looking forward to the movie.

They could have at least made it a Blade movie. I know that would require a new deal with Disney but I think itd be more successful for sure

meanwhile Sony is releasing a vampire movie based on a Marvel character and none of these bozos thought to send an email with the bright idea of connecting the things

I mean its always possible there could be some cameo or something as a surprise but thats not gonna make it a decent movie or help the marketing of the thing

after much reading I think I sort of get it.

I'm thinking of "undead" to mean like a reversing of death (like animation of a corpse).

that is actually close to the concept, but I guess it's more like a reversing of (or nullification of) mortality, regardless of whether you are dead or not. so, making oneself immortal basically. it's not necessarily undoing a death that has already occurred, it's removing oneself (or a creature, w/e) from the normal bounds of mortality. apply it to a corpse, you get a zombie, since the body is no longer "dead". apply it to someone who is alive, you get something more like a vampire since they are "alive" but having had their mortality removed are now "immortal". (I guess... who knows... and then I wonder... why are ghouls undead?)
