I played Shadow Warrior 2. It was fun for a bit, but the RPG elements sort of brings it down after a while.
I'm so glad Shadow Warrior 3 is stepping away from all of that.

Never played the original, but a friend let me borrow HR back in high school. I played a decent chunk of it before giving it back. I remember liking it.
I tried MD last year and didn't even finish the first level. I don't know, it just didn't capture me. I got bored of it fast. And it froze up on me. Pretty much soldifies how I feel about it.

My favorite way to play Borderlands games is to go solo but have it where people can jump into my game. It's fun as hell.
I'll be playing alone for a while then someone will suddenly join and help out for a bit then leave and I'm back at it alone again. And if I'm lucky enough, I'll have an entire squad for the time being. Borderlands 2 is so much fun.

That's basically a more instantly gratifying version of the Persona games. You go around a procedurally generated environment, you pick up new gear, you fight through randomly spawning enemies until you get to a boss and then you're clear to continue the story. I get that the tone you're looking for is more of a run-type game, but I agree with you in the sense that I would love a turn-based dungeon crawler.

More in line with what you're talking about, Brave Dungeon on the Switch is a short, very replayable dungeon crawler with turn-based battles and randomly generated floors. The only downside is how short it is. I agree with you, there need to be more procedurally generated JRPG-type experiences - like Diablo with turn-based combat.

You could try the Mystery Dungeon games and see if that tickles your fancy. I've been meaning to try one out.

BioShock is one of my all time favorites. I enjoyed Infinite too. Never played 2 and I don't see myself doing that anytime soon.

System Shock 2 always did interest me, but again, I'm not much of a PC gamers, so there isn't too many options for me to actually enjoy it. I was really looking forward to that System Shock remake but I'm convinced that's never coming out. In fact, I forgot about it up until this very moment.

Something more akin to the newer Wolfenstein games. A 10 or so hours game that's a nice mix between having a fun, engaging story with a focus on characters and super solid gunplay. Damn, I love those games

Shadow Warrior is way different than 2 as well. Shadow Warrior is straight forward and doesn't have loot or RPG elements, if you mean literal elements lol. SW2 had fun gameplay but I never will settled in with why I cared to progress. I know there's a place for it and I thought Id find that place in my life myself. Just never did. Probably also isn't fair that I got Shadow Warrior the same day I got my ps4. And the other games I got were Watch Dogs and Killzone. So it wasn't much competition for which one really grabbed me first. Hint, I barely touched the other 2 after giving them a decent effort.

It didn't help that all my friends that I was playing SW2 with got bored and stopped playing.
Also, the Killzone series is officially trash imo. I finally got around to playing KZ3 about a year or so ago, hoping it would be the one to save the series in my eyes because all the other ones sucked. Played it. Finished it. It sucked too. I will never understand why this series was put on such a pedestal around the PS3 era.

I feel like the only person that didn't like that game. I remember Bodycount was something of a spiritual successor from a lot of the people that made Black.
That game got destroyed by reviews and I just remembered thinking, "I don't know why anyone is surprised. It's from the same people who made Black."

I beat this earlier this year for the first time since that generation. I had no intention on doing more than just seeing if it held up through Gamepass for free at my cousins. Beat it in 2 sit downs over there. It's a very basic FPS with high quality that should of faded with time, but fot some reason I wanted to keep pushing forward. I dunno if the level design is just that good or what. Maybe the guns just feel that good to use. I have no idea why it pulled me in in 2021, but it did. I also remember it all, and my brain fuckin sucks at memory.

Yeah. By remember all of it, I wasn't including the story >_<. I actually talked over it thos time around. I fuckin hate that gimmick of delivering the story as low budget as possible. Just one room with exposition in-between missions. But hell, if that was to put more of the budget into the rest, it was the right move.

I'm not a fan of the whole silent protag schtick, but there's something about the look and design of Black Mesa, and having to explore it, that makes it very appealing to me.

I mentioned earlier that BioShock is one of my all time favorites, and from what I can tell, it's basically a mix between System Shock 2 and Half-Life. I totally wouldn't mind playing Half-Life 1.
