As crazy as this sounds, at least at that point people are more likely to not cause accidents or are more likely to only shoot their intended target.

the rest of the developed world doesnt have a lot of the US' problems due to a massive host of other factors which carry over into others.

the "gun problem" for instance is aided by increased poverty, large scale drug running, lack of social safety nets (which leads to higher suicides and domestic abuse), larger populations (which compounds the problem) and racial demographics ect.

it should be a requirement that you have to have some sort of safety certification to fucking even on again its absolutely ridiculous that any dumb ass can just go buy a gun and have no idea how to operate it clean it clear a jam safely store it none of that shit. this countrys laws are so fucking stupid

Recreational target practice like archery or .22 rifles was a common thing in schools 50 years ago.

New York state used to have rifle championships with schools having rifle teams up to the 1980's.

while im for increased training and safety (id actually like some sort of law for FFL's to quickly do a run down on handling and maintenance), its also a gun. not a magic wand. they are very easy to understand and know how to use with at most a 5minute youtube search. as someone who has a cpl, 75% of the time spent in those mandatory classes is largely bullshit.

I know this is a controversial opinion, but maybe having more guns around might actually lead to more people using those guns for their intended purpose of shooting-

Legalize drugs
Give people more opportunities for work and more pay for their work
Help domestic abuse victims better by giving more funding to various abuse shelters and such
Make mental healthcare (and healthcare in general) easier to get.
