I know it's weird but the lack of REVO on the music really turns me off from giving BS a try.

Yes because it's the better game anyway.

Well, at least as far as the gameplay and story go. The characters are more debatable. But if you enjoyed BD as a game, BS is more of that with slightly better gameplay and more forgettable story and characters.

I haven't played Bravely Second but Bravely Default II is such a huge step backwards from the original. Not that the original is anywhere close to a masterpiece. It had it's fair share of flaws.

Yeah, I couldn't continue BD II just due to unenjoyable it was. And I was still early in the game. :/ Thinking of selling it.

I didnt dislike BDII enough to not finish it, yet the game itself did feel unfinished...
Some characters and plotlines were good, some were average.. The combat is way too easy to break. Of course I could say all of this about BDI and BS too.
It definitely has the better soundtrack, but thats not enough for me to recommend it.

Besides plotwise you dont need to play BS at all to play BD2, or vice versa

Yeahhhh I didn't play Bravely Second, put playing BD2 made me wonder if it's at least better. I love the gameplay for BD2 absolutely, but the game realllllly falls straight apart from Chapter 4 onwards (yes I've heard people not getting into it early... but the game absolutely goes downhill in the back half). I know that's kinda saying something given how much people hated the back half of BD1.

It hurts me to say it as well as a massive REVO stan, but the overall BD2 soundtrack honestly was nowhere near as good as BD1. Urgent Tidings is awesome, especially within the context you first hear it that leaves a strong impression... but the rest eh not that noteworthy.

I was listening to BD1 soundtrack for ages man, even rewatched the concert show a number of times. Can't say I've been compelled to do the same from BD2.

Bravely Second I finished but it was inferior to Default in virtually every way and I do not see it as a game I'd go back to. I remember making pretty detailed post a few months ago on it. The game lacks the soul of the original or any sign they were even trying to give it that soul. It's one of those "sequels" that's made to be more of a cash grab that rides on the previous name. There's a reason Default secondhand sells for 3 times more than Second does secondhand.
