I doubt I'll get it. It's rare anyone gets it under 6 years and I only got two but the fact they even considered me enough to interview me makes me happy as fuck.

I did my best but I didnt think id get it even when I applied I just wanted to expierence the interview so id better prepared when I do eventually become the top candidate

Is this for the police force, correctional officer, or something else?

Also, SGT should be in all caps.

Edit: unless this is some weird thing that's not an abbreviation for sergeant.

Correctional officer. And no one At My unit I know of makes it all caps so eh. But if we wanna be that anal then im a correctional officer 2 and had a interview for SGT. 2 but even if at work i used SGT (I actually fully spell it out though) thats different. I speak or rather type informally in places like this

There are 3 levels based on custody level you work. Soon there is going to be titles attached to years of expierence in a title too. When it happens I'll be considered a senior officer despite only 2 years in and they say it takes 2 to 5 years to truly know the job. 6 years will be master officer. I find the titles funny but it comes with nice pat raises apparently

Do you work at a federal, state, or for profit prison? My friend works at a federal one and it seems pretty badass how they treat the inmates there. I knew a girl that worked at a for profit one, and she'd boast about beating up inmates if she was having a bad day. Good thing is, she got fired for being late too many times.

I quit being a CO because the other COs were all scumbags. 10 COs couldn't carry a gun because they had domestic charges. 1 CO left the job to marry her dream man... one of her former inmates. They both ended up in jail for credit card scams.

Every stereotype you can think of existed en mass. Roids, drugs, booze, wife beating, racists.
And here my dumbass is dropping out of grad school because they pay was so good.

Id never work for a for profit prison. I work for a state prison.

Ive been here 2 years and 2 months and only had to use force twice one of which was just forcefully cuffing a inmate. Mostly wrestling him to the ground to do it. The other time pepper spraying two who where fighting.

I'm more the paperwork kinda asshole. Piss me off get wrote up. As they say the pen is mightier than the sword and in this prison at least thats true. You either gotta piss me off pretty bad, be really stupid or just blatantly breaking a rule right in front of a camera for me to do a write up though.

Example on the stupid thing. Had a dude the other day who KNEW he was going to be packed up to ship out. Had a hours notice (not supposed to but it happens. he actually told me he was shipping before I knew) and when I went to pack him up had a fucking pipe with drug residue in it front andncenter in his locker. Not hidden at all.

Same night I got a call about a guy smoking in thr dayroom. Usually the process is I go get their id and let the person watching the camera write them up. Well when I asked for his id he laid the pipe he was smoking from on the table so he could pat himself down for his id....

It's not that bad at My unit. You cant work period unless you are allowed to carry a gun despite most people never get to just cause those are pretty much privellaged posts saved for the favorites and a handful of others. Biggest problem at my unit is COs fucking each other despite being married. That I dont get cause only one staff member I think is hot enough to take a risk for and that's the warden. Woman is in her 50s but shes still smoking hot and seems to have a great personality.

Yeah that was my plan. Another Sgt. Spot is gonna open up soon and now I know what to expect in the interview and I'll be less nervous

Its weird i didnt feel nervous but I was sweating more than I should have considering the temperature. Fortunately the sweating wasnt visible.

I thought abbreviations are only all caps if it's for different words, like NFL or MD, not if it's one word that gets shortened

Not in the military, and presumably law enforcement.

I worked as a Deputy so we had a decent number of armed posts outside of the jail as well. But if you managed to be a criminal with a badge they just always posted you in the jail where you aren't armed. It was bad. I understand why LEOs have a bad rep after working there.

While on paper we can hire former criminals we haven't been desperate enough to do it yet to my knowledge.
