I've had a few but today's felt especially undeserved IMO. To make it worse, it was a Q&A moderation (which can't be disputed) and it was for Mii StreetPass Plaza, with the Feed Mii mechanics (something that has almost no documentation from my browser search, only recipes and how to make them are documented).

They asked "In Feed Mii, one of the paid games in Mii Plaza, some recipes (example: seafood paella and sushi) use the same spread of ingredients (in this example: use tuna, rice, and salmon; do not include flour). There's a different symbol beside these two recipes that indicate what method you need to use to make it (in this example: sushi uses a knife/cutting method, while seafood paella uses a pan/baking method). Is there any way to intentionally choose what method is used, therefore choosing what dish is made? While I haven't run into any issues with this yet, I can see this causing a problem down the line if my adventurers request one meal, and I physically can't cook it without making something else instead."

I never saw any difference in my game aside from the animation and said as much since all you do is combine the ingredients to make the dish travellers request and serve it to them. And today, it's moderated and Q&A's forcing me to keep a tab open since it refuses to show the question to me on the Q&A page for the game but not the New Q&A page. Not sure if that's a bug with the site or if it's an intentional thing that will get annoying for me since I checked GameFAQs Announcements and saw nothing about that. Ugh, somtimes I wonder if the mods even fact check the Q&A answers before deleting them by using an internet search. At least let us dispute Q&A answers and ask about what exactly went wrong instead of the unable to respond BS.

About 60% of them felt unfair... of the remaining 40% I felt about 25% of them were unfair after getting an explanation.

Same mostly but I do want an answer to both that question I quoted and whether the question being hidden after the answer was moderated was a bug or a feature.

The time I posted something like, I cant wait for TF3! On the TitanFall 2 boards. I was moderated because topics about Team Fortress 3 do not belong on the titanfall boards.

Im 99.9999999% sure the moderator was trolling.

Same, again questioning if the mods actually research the correct answer before moderating (99.9% sure they just delete for GameFAQs Answers) but if Allen wants to prove me wrong, he's more than welcome to.

My actual answer

Aesthetic I think since you never use a knife or a pan in game for cooking (you literally just throw ingredients needed for the recipe and it gets made).

Also try experimenting in the kitchen with leftover ingredients and ones you buy with Play Coins so you can make a jumbo version of the dish.

How that answer falls into "Off-topic" when it relates DIRECTLY to how the game is played is fucking beyond me. If anyone else can see it, LMK otherwise I'm definitely assuming the mod who modded it never played the game.

The few times I've been modded, they've all been fair.

I feel like I experienced a bug a few weeks ago...it said I had a moderation but when I clicked on it, it was a dead link.

This one was legit and now it hid the question from my Q&A view on the board but not on recent Q&A. Bug maybe.

I mean, I accurately called a very popular genre of music a cult while a bunch of said cult's followers lobbed a slew of personal insults and misogynistic remarks my way and was the only person to suffer any moderations in the situation, but that's not different than this board was 7 years ago.

Some mods hold grudges, some have favorites, and some just generally suck. It mostly evens out in the end.

I lost track over the years, but only twice did I manage to convince the mods to overturn it. Ironically, it was when I started caring less about the lack of fairness that I started getting hit by it significantly less.

The only one that comes to mind is when I said that a certain Japanese video game had a ridiculous name (it was like 15 words long) and then got modded for "insulting Japanese culture" or something. The mod was a total fucking weeb lmao.

Eh, not unfair necessarily, but I don't think you should be modded for posting something that's on youtube. If it meets their censorship requirements it should meet literally everyone else's, they're so ridiculously strict.

I also got suspended for quoting a moderated message. Not posting it, but quoting it.

Hell, I got banned for saying I didnt care about a celebritys death more than a normal persons.

I'd like to talk about the Rittenhouse trial.....but the mods here are probably in league with ANTIFA, and they probably got word to insulate anyone from the facts of that case....

I almost never get unfair moderations as I know what the rules are, but I do get miffed sometimes when a post I made like 3+ days ago in a now dead topic gets moderated for offensive.

Most of the moderations i get that I truly believe are unfair (which are actually most of my moderations) wind up getting overturned, to the point I've lost count after about a dozen. One that was upheld was in a topic about somebody getting killed doing something stupid (I don't remember the details). The mod basically said we're not allowed to speak negatively about someone's death in any way. If that's the case then we're pretty much not allowed to talk about things like the Darwin Awards at all.

There's nothing like the feeling of slamming a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber.

In like 2010 or 2011. The moderation got overturned because apparently the mod had never played MGS.

What does overturning them even do besides waste everyone's time?

I always let them just go, because it's not important enough for all that. Getting randomly mudded is something I see as a mechanic of this site and just how things normally function.

I once got modded for "Mind-Numbing Stupidity: Forcing board users to wear a tinfoil hat to prevent their IQ from being sucked into a black hole of intelligence".

I successfully disputed it and managed to get that option removed from the reporting form. That victory has since tasted bitter.

I got purg'd recently for just posting a fairly benign Alec Baldwin meme. But, at the time, everyone was politicizing that whole incident and some lefty mod probably got all up in his feels that I was meme-ing his idol

Most, but some of them got overturned. It'd probably be less annoying if I didn't see them no-action explicitly against the rules.

Keep in mind I once got warned for "suggesting a group was evil" (using no real-world references or anything) at a time when there was an explicit rule against Hitler comparisons and, that same week, a mod -- among others -- compared somebody to Hitler. Which is like throwing somebody into jail for loitering while turning a blind eye to burglary, but it's Gamefaqs so you kinda have to take that in stride =x

And I got suspended for answering adjl's hypothetical (with an answer that amounted to "I'm not sure anything really could be done either way"). Meanwhile, you had a certain poster literally advocate for the overthrow of the US government the SAME WEEK as the 1/6 riots and nothing happened to him.
