Is calling for murder of the other half of the country a good political strategy? Apparently so, since it's working for republicans.

Not true. Democrats will still try to get your vote. And you'll say "no because of critical race theory".

It's inaccurate.

Even if Republicans were invariably bigoted, they do not make up half of this country. A lot of people don't vote. And even among those who do vote, the Democrats win the popular vote every single time. It's the electoral college which says, "Republicans have 45% of the vote. Presidency goes to the GOP." If everyone voted, it would be a landside for Democrats each time. Or perhaps the EC would say, "Republicans have 30% of the vote. GOP wins because reasons." In which case, the mask would be off.

That's why we don't have mandatory voting in this nation. It's also why there's so much learned helplessness on the left. We actively convince people that America is a broken tool that can never be fixed and that there's no reason to vote because it'll all be the same anyway.

Democrats have to lose some of the time because they would have to make good on their promises if they held all the power. The right doesn't have that problem. Republicans say they're pro-greed and pro-power and they are. Democrat politicians frequently pretend to hold socialist values while still being capitalists. In order for capitalism to survive, the two parties have to be gridlocked. The Dems have to let the Republicans win so that they can continue to blame the GOP for us not tending to everyone's needs.

Neither side has the maturity to be the bigger person. That's why it's best to not fully associate with either. Just say you lean towards one way. I understand it's hard not to get emotionally driven by such serious issues tho. But yeah, it's not ever gonna work to keep alienating each other more. Takes a lot of patience to sit down and hear someone out who feels harmful to the people you love and respect. I'm just hoping people get bored of this dance at some point and try something else. Cause all we know so far is this isn't working and nothing else is being tried on a grand scale. It's also everyone's fault who enjoy to watch the chaos more than people having actual debates. We feed into the algorithm.

I was called a bigot the other day by some dipshit on a cartoon message board, of all things, and it made me laugh and I eventually put him on ignore because he was clearly just sea lioning and didn't have shit. If you call out a conservative on that note, they get offended and confrontational. The difference between the two situations is that conservatives know you have their number, and don't like it when you call them.

Whether or not its a "good strategy" is a different matter, but its generally true.

Were all the midwestern voters who voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 racist? A lot of them switched parties in 2016 and supported Trump for a variety of reasons. To say it's all because they are hateful racists is overly simplistic (while it might be emotionally cathartic for you to say).

I wouldn't call (nearly) half the country racist.

But nearly half the country was comfortable voting for a racist, comfortable siding with someone who calls Nazis "very fine people", comfortable voting for someone who can't publicly condemn white supremacists groups like the Proud Boys.

Comfortable voting for someone who violated our 1st Amendment rights by having peaceful protestors tear gassed, and having reporters arrested for doing their jobs, and comfortable still supporting someone who was responsible for a coup against the United States during 1/6.

Almost as if those people are okay with racists and bigots running things.
