Firstly by knowingly activating his weapon before the good guys had a chance to stop him (unlike 99.9% of all antagonists). Secondly because he actually did achieve his 'noble' goal of bringing about world peace by uniting humanity against a 'common foe'. Although the method was extreme, I think sadly humanity really does need a common foe or at least some sort tangible face of adversity, something we can name, blame and unite against. It really has to be someone or something specific and uncomplicated to explain, like with Nazi Germany, something that can threaten all or most of humanity if left unchecked. Then you just have to be patient for your talent to blossom, and boom, you win. If you have talent at birth though? Fuck that you arrogant prick who only loves himself! Madera put in way more time and effort than anyone Obito did too So did Sasuke, or at least equal to Naruto.
