However I don't think I can ever understand the Free players who bash those that buy premium stuff in F2P games. I can see when its a pay to win, however theres plenty of free games where the premium stuff means nothing. Those I don't get. I mean those people are literally keeping the game running, so how can someone honestly bash someone for supporting the game they play?

I mean I will admit, back when I was making a lot more money I was a whale on a few games. But EVERY free game I play that I like I will buy something, just to give them something to help support them, Granted that was hard when PoE first came out.... those cosmetic packs weren't something I was into at all.

Now I am not bashing on people who don't put any money into the game at all, thats their choice and maybe they can't afford it, so good on the companies to offer their games for free. But I don't understand how you bash other people who ensure the thing you like is still there.

It's really simple and easy to bash people spending money when the game is in a broken/semi broken state. If the whales are spending the same amount regardless of how bad the servers are, then it affects everyone, since the overlords can see that it's not affecting revenue, so it's not a priority to fix.

Toxicity often comes from bloated self worth versus the jealousy that anyone else might have a good time with something you don't like. Or sometimes toxicity comes from those bloated individuals who think their way of doing something is the right way, the only way to perform something. This is not exclusive to any form of gaming, be it athletics, tabletop, or video gaming. Heck, it can be found outside of such activity, including anywhere in which opinions can be shared with others.

Some folks don't know nor care how to live and let live, and that is unfortunate.

Gaming as a whole is pretty toxic community wise

I'd argue that the Internet as a whole is a pretty toxic community. Online social culture tends to descend to the lowest common denominator rapidly, and the more people grow accustomed to it, the more inclined they are to generally just be shits.

The main reason certain groups (like gamers) or fanbases (like Star Wars fans, comic book fans, etc) tend to get as bad a rap as they do is because they're the groups that are most likely to be found spending more time online, forming larger self-reinforcing groups, and online message boards and social media are where you're most likely to interact with them. So you're generally going to see more examples of them being terrible than you are more niche groups you don't encounter as often.

Basically, people suck. The details are unimportant.

Easy target.

They required money to win = no skill.

Same thing happened in the 80's with new arcade games that were pay to win (like Gauntlet, Ninja Gaiden, etc.)
