Whose side are you on in this?

Danny Duarte who is somewhere in the United States is causing a stir online after he mocked his TINDER date cause she paid for the dinner with COINS!!

He goes under the name "waterboy" who went on a date with this woman before and went on a second date again but this time he was left amused when he saw her taking out coins in her purse and started counting how much to pay for their dinner bill!!..

He wrote "on a second date with a tinder girl and she's paying with coins, i decided to go out with her again and she does this..you can't make this s*** up!"

But that infuriated social media who slammed him for trying to humiliate her and said his true colours showed and said why didn't HE pay for the date like most men do

Another felt they are old school and believe in equality but also believes in romance and said he had a heart of stone to sit and watch that

Another suggested maybe she was trying to embarrass him for failing to pay and making her do so

Whose side are you on?

If it's a large enough bill maybe it's kind of silly paying for an entire dinner with coins, but there's not much room to talk when you're known as wa-wa-wa-waterboy.

Anyway, money's money. Also, she's got pretty hands.

It's the second fucking date. Even if you expect the man to pay for the first, there is a cut-off. The guy shouldn't be expected to pay for every single date, and it's moronic that some idiots on social media would think that.

Otherwise, paying with coins is a dick move that's usually done for specific effect. There's no good reason to pay for the full thing in coins, particularly when you shouldn't have that many coins in the first place unless you robbed a laundromat.

This, especially given changing cultural norms and the fact that many women now out-earn men.

You don't have to use them all at once, and you can pick and choose where you use them. A date isn't the best place to break out a coin jar.

I've got a bag on my desk with a full roll of nickels, a full roll of dimes, a full roll of pennies (which aren't even used in Canada anymore), most of a roll of quarters, and a few extra dimes, nickels, and pennies that don't make up a full roll. It's not hard to accumulate enough small change to pay for a meal if you periodically empty it out of your wallet and collect it over a few years, particularly where there isn't much need to keep it in your wallet for everyday purchases. I intend to take mine to a bank at some point to deposit, but I don't see anything wrong with this lady using them to pay for a meal instead. It's not like she's holding up a line of people to use them in a retail setting.

What difference does it make how she paid for something. Maybe she wanted to get rid of her change. There are times when I may have 3 or 4 dollars in quarters and I'll use them to get rid of some of them.

He is pretty garbo for calling her out online, but I would defiently give her a playful hard time over it. Why would anyone be carrying any significant amount of change like that? Yes "money is money" but if you take those to the bank, you can have it deposited in your account, or turn it into non obnoxious money.

Lol I had a regular that did this a few times at a store I worked at. I started always giving him his change entirely as coins. He retaliated by using dollar coins. I always saved them and gave them back as his change. I have no idea how many times we traded the same $20 or so of dollar coins back and forth.

She's just holding up a waiter -_-

And it's pretty easy to stay ahead of your coins, and easier still to just use credit/debit.

Not appreciably. It's a bit of a pain, sure, but waiters run relatively few transactions. Having one of those take a minute or so longer while they count change isn't going to make a huge difference in the long run, especially assuming she gave exact change and therefore didn't make the waiter count it out before she left.

Zeus posted...

Not really, which is why they accumulate. Unless you actively try to use change whenever you pay cash (which, in a retail setting, tends to hold up a line of people behind you while you count it out), change tends to accumulate and just end up piled somewhere whenever you empty your pockets. By and large, change isn't all that useful, which is why people that actually try to use it (like this lady) get vilified for doing so.

Generally, this is what I do, which is why it's taken me several years to accumulate a few rolls of coins. For somebody that does prefer to use cash on a regular basis, though, change adds up, and isn't always easy to use faster than it accumulates (at least, it's much less easy than just getting $20's from an ATM and using those).

I had to do that and apologized for it. Had no money in my account at the time and I needed to feed my cat.

Ah yes, a tale as old as time, having $0 cash, no money in your bank account for a debit card, no credit cards, and suddenly coming into an entire roll of quarters, and deciding to use it to go out to eat.

I mean, at the end of the day, it's all perfectly valid money and it's nothing more than a minor inconvenience/annoyance. As long as you're aware of how inconvenient it is and try to mitigate that (count your change before getting to the register, sort it as much as you can for easier counting on their end, be polite about it), there's nothing to really feel bad about.

Having money in the bank already is irrelevant. Some folk simply won't or cant go to a bank to deposit their change because they see no reason to when money is money and can be spent or the banks happen to be closed or whatever at that time.

You're conflating using exact change with people paying only in change. That's not the same thing.

Beyond that, if you can do basic math, you already know the exact change you'll need unless you have a whole grocery cart's worth of stuff (although, even then, you might know the exact amount you need because some stores give you a scan gun)
