Can't think of anything bad about it though, it's just not quite as inventive as other entries even though it hits all the beats correctly and the characters are entertaining.

Very fun vibe, but also has this very uh "ungrounded" feeling compared to most FF stories. Like I think the worldbuilding is maybe even weaker than even FFII in a way, which gets across a very grave atmosphere of oppresion pretty well for an NES game. There's a few personal stories but it's all pretty abstract the whole way through. Bartz is unique in that he has nearly no central conflict for most of the story. He's just a dude and that's cool. It all works it's just not what I really come to FF stories, but I would never change anything either.

I dont care about Gilgamesh and Ex-death so while it does get the job done theres basically nothing I particularly like here other than some amusing GBA dialogue.

Final Fantasy IV - 7

Its not really that well-written of a story but the strong pacing that keeps the melodrama moving no matter how ridiculous things get keeps it entertaining. The earnest attempt shines through some of the stupid whereas FFV was just not full-assed.

Story is pretty good but the job system and the massive world was the main draw to this game for me.

GBA version is the definitive edition.

Had the PS1 version and only played it for a few hours cause of the lag.

Story was fine. The Faris twist surprised me, and I liked that they made her an Anne Bonne type of pirate.

That said, FF5's story didn't compel me enough to keep playing.
