Nah, I already pay a monthly subscription for HBO. I have an 85 inch TV and a decent sound system. I ain't sitting with booger eaters, chronic coughers, going to take a piss halfway through the movie ers, and popcorn smackers.

How can that be, though? Surely this huge company didnt decide to just piss their money away, right? There has to be some sort of reason they decided to do these same-day streaming releases. My MAX subscription is contingent on them releasing new content.

And its been killing it at the box office anyway.

Yeah itd be nice to watch it on a big screen but then I remember all the negatives. So much nicer watching at home. I might go on a weekday afternoon or something when theres low attendance, I guess.

i dont understand the motivation or logistics behind it at all. i just know that WB has basically said they're holding off on committing to funding part 2 until they see the return on investment of the first installment.

Its honestly more about the sound than the image. But I also cant imagine a 85 knch screen doing the image justice.

I mean maybe they made a mistake with this strategy, well see. But yeah, like I said its done great at the box office around the world so far so hopefully we wont have to even think about it.

WB has said now on several occasions that they are going to make their sequel decision based on multiple factors, including streaming numbers.

WB knew they were going to be handicapping all of their films by doing same day releases. They basically are chalking up any loss on these films as advertising expense. What they don't want to see is minimal streaming views because then that means the advertisering spend wasn't worth it.

It might fdo well internationally but the USA casual movie goer is probably NOT going to like Dune part 1. The fact they have not even gotten a commitment nor started filming part 2 (the interesting part of the book) says how little faith they have in this.

Unlike SW, or TLOTR the Dune books are NOT heavy in action, it is a lot of politics, and political maneuvering which if the PT Episode 1 politics bored people they are not going to like Dune.

It's HBO for me, I can't convince anyone I know to see it with me, maybe my cousin but I already pay for HBO and cant afford a theatre trip anyways.

Movie should do fine at the box office. It hasn't released in the US or China yet and both are rather uncrowded so expect big returns in both markets. Additionally it's already over $100,000,000 from just smaller markets. I don't see how this can end up doing badly.

If they can make Snyder cut, they can get Dune part 2 off the ground; the metrics have change entirely in regards to releases and those who haven't changed their metrics are going to be left in the dust.

I'm gonna watch it on Max and if I really do enjoy it, will watch it in theaters with my other friends to support it more.
