Which Party do you think has the most kids that grew up to be the opposite of their parents.

I am really curious about this.

Neither.

I think the majority trend is for kids to start out as Democrats and then become Republicans later in life.

Republicans without a doubt. Most young people today are too smart for that nonsense.

Might want to go back and look at what most Boomers were like as kids before you say something that dismissive, though...

It's not like the entire generation your generation hates came popping out of the womb wearing sweaters and demanding to see the manager. Most of them were pretty damned liberal as kids, convinced they were the only ones enlightened enough to see how things should be and determined to save the world. Give peace a chance, all you need is love...

Then they all got jobs, wound up with mortgages, and realized what the world was actually like.

Pretty much. Kids have an overly simplistic understanding of the world and a lack of fiscal responsibilities that tends to be favor Democrats, but -- provided that they eventually understand nuance and take on more personal responsibilities -- the number gradually splits more evenly across parties.

And one party isn't necessarily better or worse than the other, they just suck in their own special ways.

Makes you wonder what'll happen with the current generation since many will just stick to renting >_>

More accurately, people tend to become more fiscally conservative as they spend more time making the existing system work for them. When you give up on waiting for things to change and become invested in how things are, that provides a pretty strong incentive to object to making the changes you gave up on that would now disadvantage you.

Socially, people tend to remain roughly the same (or become slightly more liberal) as time goes on, but because social causes tend to progress faster than adults' belief systems do (largely driven by more neuroplastic youth, especially in the Internet era where some new social justice cause appears every 12 seconds), they often end up more socially conservative relative to contemporary standards when they're older, even if they haven't become more conservative relative to their past selves. You generally don't see something like somebody being in favour of interracial marriage in the 60's but being against it now, you just see that position being treated as the minimum standard of not being a racist douche instead of the radically progressive position it was back then. The individual hasn't become less progressive, they're just seen that way because the standards have shifted.
