Dude might have been into Street Fighter and thought that would be *two* things they had in common (the other being fitness, obviously).

Can't blame him for wanting to try, but he also should have taken the damn hint with the earbuds at the start. Interestingly, he *did* get the hint when she gave him a blunt answer and put the earbuds back on, so it's not like this guy was some obsessive asshole about the situation, he was just a social dummy. (Whether he learns from this or just outright gives up approaching ever again is on him, too.)

I saw he was wearing a DBZ shirt, said 'hey, nice shirt.' Then we had a conversation. Didn't even notice he had turtle gi shorts too lol.

I was at the gym minding my OWN business. Was doing the machine where you push your arms up and this DUDE approached me.
He asked me if he could go NEXT. I screamed, GET AWAY FROM ME! I AM AT THE GYM NOT TO BE BOTHERED.
Security came and asked if everything was ok.
I said NO.
This random stranger came up to me in my safe haven and dared to talk to me.

They escorted him out.

This. Dunno the size of the gym, but odds are there are a lot of treadmills. Treadmill etiquette is usually the same as urinal etiquette. Don't hop on the one next to someone else unless shit's already full around the gym.

Talking to someone who's doing anything more than a brisk walk while on a treadmill is flipping stupid, headphones or not.

Maybe just give her a single line of "I like your shirt, it's a fun game" and then go about yo' business.
