Bayonetta released February 3rd, 2016, making her the last character for Sm4sh. Smash Ultimate is announced March of 2018. Now, October 18th, the final character, Sora will be added. You know that Sakurai got no time off considering how long games take to make, even if he just used a lot of Smash 4's engine (although, with the amount of tweaking, and new character models; regardless, it wasn't just a lazy re-use of it if he did use the same engine). 8 and a half years is a long time for one continuous development. In that time, we've gotten to see some very old franchises get recognized, fighting games to shake hands with Smash, our favorite RPG heroes come over, and some franchises we never imagined to get a chance to shine in the light to make their way to the games.
