I've never had this for more than a day. I rarely get them though. Also "my drinking days are over" is always hollow in this case as you'll drink alcohol again.

Technically speaking, a hangover is the result of alcohol poisoning, especially if vomiting is involved. But yeah, I've never had a multi day hangover. I generally feel better by late afternoon the next day at the latest

Ehh.

When I hit 40, I finally started feeling alcohol. When I was younger, I never really got hangovers or anything, but now when I drink even a drink or two, I tend to feel a bit stretched out and tired the next day, with an occasional headache thrown in. At which point I kind of stopped drinking entirely, because I don't really like feeling that way.

I still might potentially get drunk on July 4th (the main drinking holiday of the year for me and my friends), but since the pandemic hit we really haven't gotten together so I haven't had anything to drink then either. So for me, for now at least, "I'm probably not going to drink much again, if ever" has actually been pretty easy to stick to.

Granted, I've only really been a periodic social drinker since college anyway (so it's not like I was drinking multiple times a week as-is), but over the last 30 years I've basically gone from casual drinking, to tons of drinking, to casual drinking, to mostly being teetotal.

Though I admit, the "I swear I'll never drink again" line does tend to be BS the younger you are when you say it. Which reminds me of an old classic...
