Is Netflix known for killing studios like EA now?

Netflix getting into gaming is relatively new. I think this might be the first game studio they've purchased.

Do we know much about their gaming goals? I feel like they might actually be interested in just publishing regular games. IIRC they said something about wanting to publish games based on their shows too.

I mean a Stranger Things game revolving around horror RPG(D&D) elements could be cool. Will they do that? Probably not.

Don't know how I feel about the acquisition or Netflix getting into games in general, but they have a couple of things I could potentially be interested in.

How is this killing a studio when they have never done this before

"Greg Peters, Netflix's chief product officer, said the company will initially focus on mobile games before eventually expanding to consoles and TV sets as well. The games initially will be tied to Netflix's most popular programming, Peters said, but standalone titles may be added to the, mix too. He even speculated that Netflix eventually may create a TV series or film inspired by one of its video games."

Other sites are also saying the mobile games will be free to existing Netflix subscribers. That's about all I could find about it. So it seem like they plan to start small and grow from there. That might work out for them since it gives them room for mistakes as they figure out what they are doing.

How could it go wrong with the guy in charge having been a major acquisition exec for both Facebook and EA?

I mean he only did anything for EA Mobile, and likewise for Facebook was basically just in charge of trying to get third party games for Oculus.

The title scared and confused me, now I am just confused. I really liked Oxenfree, hopefully this doesn't go south for them.

Afterparty was bad tho
