Peach was the most miscast.

I know Chris is wrong, but as a lead they probably have to make mario more flawed, so if it's "flawed everyman mario" Chris Pratt is kinda ok.

But ATJ as peach makes 0 sense.

Not sure who should replace her, but she's totally miscast.

Mario should have been somebody like Jason Sudekis who can play smug in the way that might work for mario.

Everybody else I'm ok/good with.

Ru Paul as Funky Kong

Charles Martinet as everyone - literally every character and every cameo - except Mario. He uses his same Mario voice for each individual role. During the end credits he says "It's-a me!" every time his name comes up on screen. Which is a lot. Because he played everyone except Mario.

Bowser, DK, Peach, Toad and Luigi are all great casting choices for a silly CG movie aimed at kids with some subliminal adult jokes. I imagine it will be like the Lego movies in tone.

Looking forward to Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser.

I honestly don't know how much depth you expect for them to give Peach. I don't see any problem with the casting.

I don't really care who they cast as her if I'm being totally honest.

Because she's a good actress and it's not going to take much to voice act Peach. There's nothing wrong with her being cast as Peach and you haven't offered any reason why she isn't either.

I don't think you understand what casting means then. And unless you think Chris Pratt is a bad actor I'd wonder why you think he's a bad choice.

Anyway, for ATJ, there's tons wrong with her being cast as peach. She's very introverted and diminutive and slight and Peach is outgoing and bubbly and not shy.

ATJ plays a lot of passive quiet young girl types, and Peach is a royal outgoing unafraid woman. It makes 0 sense. Aside from "female" there are 0 attributes I'd used to describe ATJ that I'd used to describe Peach, and vice-versa.

It's like if they cast Willam Dafoe as Mario and I acted like that was great casting, and then when pressed on it I'd be like "What? Willam Dafoe is a great actor, and it's not going to take much to play mario!"

It's the Super Mario Bros. movie, not the Princess Peach movie. Even girls don't play Mario games for the Princess. You may not know this but ATJ is a method actor. Here is her discussing the difference between her own personality and the roles she takes:

Also, Chris Pratt isn't a bad actor, but I think he's a bad choice for Mario because I've never heard Chris Pratt do voices. We've all seen Endgame, we all know the guy can act.

Besides, aside from Shiggy's shit eating grin as he announced the cast, we haven't seen or heard anything regarding this project. Maybe wait until more details are available about this movie, huh?

S I had no idea who atj was so looked her up, never seen or heard her before but when i heard her voice....yeah she is not peach way to royal of a voice. I get what they were going for but no. Also I originally liked chris pratt as Mario tell people mentioned the dude that does Mario's voice has done it for 35 years. I had no idea and I think it's stupid they over looked him. The rest of the casting is fine, though I would have like leguizamo as Luigi. I actually kind f like the 1993 Mario movie. I jsut wish they had the regular toadstool instead of him being a koopa.

People seem to be forgetting its a CGI animated movie not live action. There is no miscasting and no one can really judge it harshly until they have seen a clip or trailer. Only time these characters had any legit voice scenes were in cartoons. The cartoons are not known for their iconic voices either. So its laughable people have it made up in their heads what these characters should sound like.

It's interesting how you like quadruple down rather than just go "you know what, when I said 'Peach was great casting' I really didn't put any thought into it and was wrong."

It's odd how some people seem to never admit they made a mistake, even when they did so arbitrarily.

And if your one rule about "good casting" is "I've never heard them do voices" have you heard ATJ do voices?

You were wrong to say she was a great casting choice. Just admit it and move on. I don't see why you'd want to die defending a stance you admit you chose arbitrarily and without much thought.

Toad's my favorite choice. It depends how they play it, but Key has a really good manic energy that they might be able to utilize in one of the versions of Toad that is just losing his shit and freaking out.

The point of the topic is to just have fun just talking about which ones seem like good casting choices, and which ones seem like bad ones, and who you'd replace the bad ones with.

You're right though. In my head, he's a bad choice. I'm an older Nintendo fan so I've seen Lou Albano and Bob Hoskin both portray Mario and I'm curious as to how Chris Pratt will do as voicing such an iconic character.

As for the Peach thing, I couldn't be more indifferent but I think that ATJ could do well. Maybe I was wrong, she's not great casting, she's fine casting. It's just not a massive stretch of my imagination that she can handle the job. Same for Pratt.

We've literally have seen nothing so these are all just opinions, no fact and almost entirely speculation.

Ummmmm we have voice overs in games......they should ahve just got the voice actors from the games if I'm being honest. Especially since the coice actor for mario has done it for 35 years and now thatbabkovie is coming out he gets skipped over.

Same. Hoskins and Leguizamo were my dudes.

I thought most of these castings were pretty awful until I found out its animated, and now I just have to wait for a trailer or something to see if itll be any good. But, just the way I am, I think its silly to write off something before knowing about it, wasnt meant to be mean or harsh or a dick or anything so my bad if it did.
