I played the Beta and honestly prefer Project Diablo 2 over the new version. This is especially true for the console versions which seem to make trading very hard (From what I have heard). Without trading much of the end game of D2 is ruined.

PC version (tested that as well as ps4 version) does allow trading, so it's not horrid. I might get it. My friend has gotten it and is playing it already. It's 40$ though a project D2 is free (if you already own the game) and has advantages (no arrow ammunition, no stamina problems for running, AoE melee attacks (for everyone), double stash and inventory space (same amount of inventory for charms but you have a equal amount for non-charms as well..or double the old amount for non-charms if you don't fill your inventory up with them (which you almost always do since charms are insanely powerful). There are tons of other changes/additions as well, including the fact that solo games are all automatically set to players 5 (basically 5x the drops).

So going from that to plain D2.....is pretty hard. They improved the graphics as well with project d2, just not as much as the new version...but it also has MUCH lower system requirements and no server lag at all (the new version seems to still have the old problems for some crazy reason considering modern internet speeds).

Between the two versions having played both a significant amount Project D2 is better in pretty much every way. I may still get the new version though just to play with a few friends who got it....and because they tweaked a few abiilties in project D2 that make them not as insanely over powerful as traditional d2 (Dragon Talon for instance....back in the day it was central to my hybrid kick/trap assassin, just maxing DT and then focusing everything into traps....was pretty insane build because DT is VERY fast, relies on boots for bonus damage (letting you get crushing blow/+skills etc on your weapons instead of needing damage) etc.

You can still do that in PD2 but DT is limited to 3 kicks a pop (vs 5 in traditional D2) which drastically reduces how powerful it is (also they reduced the power of crushing blow etc, which was sick with the old DT (fastest attack in the game if I remember right).

My old hybrid char would lay down traps and then kick monsters (death sentries I think it was, which did corpse explosions). They did good lightning damage as well, but most importantly lay a few down and then DF to an enemy and DT it (dragon flight) and when it dies (and the enemies around it) they all get hit with the corpse explosions, setting off a chain reaction that destroys groups almost instantly.

Was also insanely good at boss killing with the life leach unique that let you heal from damaging an enemy, you could stand toe to toe with the hardest bosses and just DT away.

DF also let you move through maps/areas much faster then most even before getting an Enigma (not to mention Assassins buff that boosts movement speed a ton that you get almost right away. Was the fastest class to run through stuff without Enigma other than sorceress.

Anyway I wouldn't mind playing that char again and I can't make him as well with Project D2...so I may spend the $40 just for that.

I have played it on windows 10 but I don't remember the process. I would love a remake though and would pay for it, especially if they would freaking STOP spending so many resources on upgrading graphics and start adding to the damn games instead. Sure, upgrade graphics a bit if it's not that hard, I'm down, but these are freaking CLASSIC games that we love/loved.....so freaking use resources to ADD TO THEM so there is more of what we love to play that we have not already played 247 times already.

I would LOVE to have a remake/extended version of Fallout 3...add more levels that we can get, add bigger bosses we can fight, add more DLC basically (while tuning everything else up and making it easier to play on modern systems. You'll sell a FREAKTON of them.

Heck just make it a DLC if you want, but if you buy the DLC you get a general upgrade in graphics as well etc. Try it, charge 20$ for the upgrade pack/DLC...not only will you probably sell a freakton to people who love fallout 3, but you'll probably ALSO sell a ton of the base game to people who don't already own it.

Way less work (don't have to redo everything) tons of money and will make people happy.

Wish they had done that with D2.

Same. I liked Fallout 3 more than NV, but I think I like Fallout 4 the best overall... but what do all 4 (fallouts+d2) have in common? Don't work on anything newer than a Toaster

Not unique to the remake, I know the D2 seasons have been getting steady patches for the last 20 years so I don't know what's legit new since about 2008 or so

You can still use the /players x command to increase difficulty and drop rates, but it's single player only.

that's kinda what I'm asking about, too; I mean - Diablo 3 seems like it was made for controllers what with the 4 fixed actions... Grim Dawn plays well on controller. Torchlight 3 TECHNICALLY plays well on controller but only because there are no aiming skills at all

Isn't it literally the same game with a new coat of paint? Isn't there a button that jumps immediately between the old and new visuals? They didn't want to change anything because people would bitch and moan.

they changed some things though

i think they need to say shoosh to people and change SOME more things

but not too many things. Or theyll just make d3 again. But I think it still needs balancement. Also fuck charms. They are flatly bad game design.

• Cold mastery (and presumably other sources of pierce if you stack it high enough) allow you to hurt immune monsters
• Eth defense bug no longer works
• Unidentified magic/rare items no longer change color based on their affixes
• Your character can get stuck on terrain objects (seems pretty rare, though)
• Killing the cow king no longer prevents you from opening the cow level portal
• Killing nilithak and getting the hall of pain waypoint no longer closes the portal people use to farm pindleskin

I've also heard that they fixed something related to strength bugging, but that could mean a number of different things and I haven't looked into it.
