Well... at this point last year there were 7 (and the 8th was eliminated Day 73), though we've established how super weak FF7 is this year. Lucky today with almost everybody turning out. Hopefully it can keep going a bit longer.

It's very frustrating because I can count 25 Day 98 saves for him, easily, even against prime competition. You can see where things went wrong for him last year and where they're going wrong now.

I can appreciate nobody wanting to make a sacrifice, they want to support their main as long as they can. Even if there's a near-zero chance of winning, there's always a chance. Meanwhile there's a much better chance of being part of something epic, the spectacular Kefka win after all those years and close calls...

(Now this sounds like hypocrisy since I'm saving Sephiroth over better characters I like more with a better shot at making a deep run, but that's my penance run, I need to see it through to the bitter end. Kefka's a different story though)

it's been looking like a pretty good run for Locke for a while now with a decent group of real supporters, maybe he's finally getting his comeback since granting Vivi's 2nd crown?.... or is he gonna give somebody else their #2

haven't been following what mnk's prioritizing this year which could be the decider

things were looking worst last year in this same scenario of having to outlast Locke and Celes. but he got past it, and then gained new savers after i think Edea went out. that's when i thought it was in the bag and that's when he suddenly went out.

How often does FF1-3 get more than 2 characters in? This year was big for FFI but I doubt it's normally the case for any of them.

I'd be surprised if 3 ever had more than 2 characters in, because that would mean that Luneth, Cloud of Darkness, and Odin all got in in the same year.

Based on GMUN's site, those three were indeed in the XVI and XVII contests (the only two contests for Odin and Luneth).... which are actually funny results:

Character - XVI placement - XVII placement:

Odin - 74 - 84
Luneth - 75 - 96
CoD - 15 - 72

The back-to-back in XVI (after jussst getting through boots) and everything falling off a cliff in XVII culminated with Cloud of Darkness 100/100 in XVIII to close the book on FF3... until this year.

Or in other words, Shiva this contest is the best non-CoD FF3 placement in SMFFFC history
