Vigil shaking himself at Caidin as if he were being choked is a gem of a moment if someone were to walk in and see the screen at that exact time

when you think about it, Klint van Zieks is what Edgeworth would've become if he had fully given in to his dark side like Gant said he would

I'm trying to decide who the most competent defense attorney in the series is, between 3-5 Phoenix, 6-5 Apollo, and G2-5 Naruhodo. It kinda disappointed me that the further the series went beyond that, Phoenix almost became flanderized as a guy who never really understood what was going on and just bluffed his way through until he stumbled on the truth (1-5 in particular almost makes Phoenix look stupid at times, which is bothersome to me because he's definitely not stupid), but I'm glad Takumi avoided that pitfall with Naruhodo.

couldn't they just have shot Drebber

I mean I get why Stronghart wanted Genshin dead but Jigoku should've thought of that at least!

the callback to the Gant breakdown is fantastic, even if it was a fakeout

I also kept waiting for the lightning strike on Stronghart's big NOOOOOOOOOOO moments

the Holmes hologram is pretty silly for a climax

I get that Ace Attorney has plenty of "out of nowhere last second rescues" but even this is a bit much

oh nice the other eye of the daruma finally got filled in

anyway, G2-5 is in the books, but the final line counts will have to wait until tomorrow since it is rather late for me

and then I guess I'll be back at it with my time stats but we can worry about that later

mercifully, Edgeworth's dog didn't seem like he would be a good murder weapon

It's basically spirit channeling if you think about it... liberally

both the ears and the hologram kind of took me out of it, but the emotional payoff made up for the stretched suspension of disbelief for me

Taking Stronghart down is satisfying because he's a worthy adversary and it feels earned for Ryunosuke, but it just felt weird that they needed Holmes to sweep in and claim the glory with an OOPArt

Whew, and with that, the line counts for Great Ace Attorney are complete! Still got time counts left to do, but that's much easier since all I have to do is play. I don't have to keep track of a bunch of other stuff that makes this part of it so time-consuming.

I do still need to sneak in a Layton/Ace Attorney line count, which I might try to do concurrently with the time counts. Having free time to play uninterrupted is difficult now that I'm married! I can pretty much only guarantee it when I'm home alone or she's asleep before me, so I might just work on Layton/AA during the times when I'm not totally free for time counts.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. I'm thinking probably not though. I think Layton/AA line counts might be on the low side just because so much of the time is taken up by puzzles and there isn't really any investigation banter.

Right, the defendant isn't allowed to talk during witch trials.

Also, it's cool that the top 25 is everyone who has more than 1000 lines.

It's interesting to note, on top of that, that this is quite unlikely to change any time soon - we would either need AA7 to introduce a new protagonist or primary assistant, or for AA7 to have a segment that happens in Khura'in. MAYBE a particularly talkative prosecutor could get over the line in one game, but it's not easy.

And wow the Ace Attorney franchise is up to 244 characters already not counting PW/AA? that's a lot. I don't think I can recognize 80% of those by name only...

Characters with a plausible path to 1000:

Rayfa Padma Khura'in
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi
Khura'in Judge

Characters with a plausible path to 1000 if we got a GAA3:

Gina Lestrade
Yujin Mikotoba

Characters with a very implausible path to 1000:

Lotta Hart
Wendy Oldbag
Lamiroir

This is, as far as I can tell, pretty much the only characters who I can even sort of entertain the idea of getting to 1000

A new character would have to be a protagonist, primary assistant, or prosecutor to get to 1000 in one game but even then it's hard to do - Nahyuta didn't do it, Rayfa didn't either

That's 244 characters with a minimum of ten lines! That doesn't even include the characters with less or the ones that have no lines at all.

And keep in mind that only Ryunosuke and Susato broke 1000 lines in one game in GAA. Holmes came really close in GAA2 but he was basically a secondary assistant there.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I decided to give him credit for it because they're voiced by the character Watson, even though they're written by Iris and they're technically Mikotoba's words.

I suppose we could make a distinction between Watson from the stories and the "real" Watson or just give those lines to Iris or Mikotoba, but I think it's easier just to do it this way.

Plausible explanation to me, they're lines attributed to the character of Watson from Iris's stories.

The difficulty with line counts Layton/AA is that everything is divided up into chapters instead of individual "full" cases. I guess I could record line counts for each chapter but then combine everything leading up to the trial as the investigation day, which I think is what I did for the time stats.

Random thought -
I was actually surprised to see that Menimemo's motive was..after all, just "justice"
That's a new one for the series I think. That was the first time it wasn't personal? (yes she insulted him, but that's not reason enough)

When you think about it, Menimemo probably saved a lot of people's lives since killing people was literally her job and who knows how many further victims she would've gotten. Of course, he wouldn't have known it at the time.

I guess you could argue 3-3 fits the bill. Tigre lent Elg money, but he didn't know him otherwise and his motivation for killing him had nothing to do with Elg himself.
