Persona 5 had perfect pacing, imo, the only issue was that I ran out of social links to do lol

1 has good thematic stuff but the plot being split in 2 is wonky

4 is scooby doo

5 is extremely overrated

I enjoyed P5 but july-sept was pretty weak tbh.

The field trip in P5 was insane tbh, 3 and 4 stayed in Japan, but 5 got to Hawaii, what a special school.

i say that as someone who didnt play 2 or 1

I played 2 hours of 2 and I couldn't handle the encounter rate. It's way too high. I did beat both stories of Persona 1, so I guess 1 is better. It's a shame the PSP version neutered the soundtrack so much

Nah, the old sound track was way more atmospheric. The boss fights had preludes that only transitioned to the main track once you selected the fight command, which I thought was cool >_> Plus every character had their own unique theme, but it got butchered to 1 theme for everyone now. idk why they thought that was a good idea

The story of 4 is just straight up stupid at points and all the chars have lame dilemmas and resolutions

3 the chars were more complex and had real baggage they were dealing with (except, like Junpei and Fuuka i guess)

5s plot also gets stupid at the end

1 has decent story albeit you can only experience 1 side of it per run

Persona 2s plot is persona at its best

Pacing refers to the tempo of the writing and how fast or slow development happens within the characters/world, or how well the game flows between its core gameplay elements. It can lead to what Neon said about a game dragging towards the end, but that really isn't only it as people get different things out of the same game (ie. art is in the eye of the beholder) and how it actually effects you can be different depending on how the pacing goes wrong.

For example, lets say that there is a murder that you have to solve in a non-murder mystery RPG. Because it's not the main focus of the game there can't be too much time spent on minor details as it will bog the normal flow of the story down. However, if they don't give enough of the details then it becomes hard to get invested in the game's story itself because it clearly isn't taking itself seriously. In both cases you are taken out of the games' world because too much/little information is given, and if that happens too many times then the game will start to drag. Thus the story has bad pacing. If there is an emphasis on the growth of the main character over a period within the game it has to deal with the same kind of issue but on a larger scale. If the main character has a sudden change of heart after a single scene then the transition is far too fast and they lose believability, and if they take the course of hundreds of hours then the character's growth can become so invisible that the player doesn't even care about it happening at all.

In a gameplay sense a game needs to transition between its core systems as a way to keep what it wants to do "fresh." In an RPG this means that you need to make some level of constant transition between story/worldbuilding and exploration/battle to keep the either from going stale. If a game has two massive cutscenes sandwiched around a tiny period of you getting to move around then the pacing of the section is poor and can potentially cause a loss of mental investment in what is going on. Inversely if the game lacks any form of story for an extremely extended period then you can get fatigued in the inverse way. This is why modern JRPGs have substantially more cutscenes in dungeons than older ones (even from eras where there wasn't a real limitation due to disc space) as it helps prevent fatigue. Obviously how this all goes about changes based on genre but unless you are playing a game with only one core type of gameplay (think games like Overwatch or DotA) the game's gameplay pacing is based on how well it transitions based on its genre/what it's trying to pull off.

Dont attribute a gameplay design choice voiced by a character to the actual character itself

I'm not going to read through the whole topic, but I saw some posts about who's worse between Teddie and Morgana, and the latter is easily worse, IMO.

Morgana is a totally shit character with no redeeming qualities.

Teddie can be annoying, grating, etc., but he was never as bad as Morgana.

Its actually the opposite. Outside of go to sleep and chapter 5, morgana is quite endearing IMO. Teddie was just annoying
