I renamed him Shadow, he picked it up within a couple of days. 9 years later and I doubt he would ever respond to his old name anymore. --- After 16 years, I have decided my signature will NOT be about my job! But they can learn to understand words Usually like 150-250 depending on who/where you ask. But they do understand some words. That said, they can sometimes confuse them with similar sounding words. I renamed him Shadow, he picked it up within a couple of days. 9 years later and I doubt he would ever respond to his old name anymore. After a while, call him by the new name first, then the old name.
