Defender is fine. But the best defense is your own behavior.

Take me for what I am -- who I was meant to be.
And if you give a damn, take me baby, or leave me.

Yeah my Norton sub just renewed (I had it set for auto-renew ) and I was like do I *really* need this if I have Windows defender?

So I definitely have to remember to shut off auto renewal.

I wonder who still uses McAfee after all the allegations that came out about the guy after his death

It's still the bundled AVS that came with my Laptop

you dont actually need anything unless you go around installing weird shit on your computer. but windows defender is pretty lightweight so there isnt really any need to disable it

defender
+ don't login to a computer as an admin (though UAC does a similar thing)
+ keeping things updated (security holes patched)
+ always beware of running .exe files and similar 'dangerous' files

I've always felt like paid antiviruses were kind of a scam when free versions existed. Now that defender is standard with windows, I haven't used anything else
