It's by far the best Wily stage in MM2, and it has one of the most creative bosses. It feels like the only Wily stage with any real substance. What you are saying about that boss specifically is most certainly true, and I understand why some people don't like that situation that it creates if you die or miss too many shots...but I also have this kind of respect for the game going that far; it creates slightly higher stakes that you don't normally see in Mega Man (and they aren't that bad, especially for the NES era). I also think that situations like that were much more normal in that era just due to how many games really did things like that. Like I was playing through Rygar recently, and not sure if any of you have, but dying against the final boss of the game creates such a shit grindfest to power back up before refighting, and it made me remember it happening back then, but it felt more normal in that era at the time. And not to mention the slew of games that had game overs and such. I don't know...the Wily 4 boss just didn't seem so bad compared to all that stuff at the time, but I guess I can understand why people still wouldn't like it. I just thought it was a cool and unique boss, and I appreciated the slightly higher stakes to the fight. Even in terms of Mega Man games, I always found it was worse during one of the Mega Man X Sigma fights (might have been X3?) when you end up using all your Sub Tanks and still die to him, then you have to grind enemies forever just to fill them back up if you want to have a chance to beat him. (I don't remember if he was actually that hard, but this was something I definitely remember happening a few times as a kid).
