Happiness Charge and Doki Doki are widely regarded as the worst Precure from my understanding, I assume Doki Doki is similar in nature since the only thing I know about it is a weird scene where they're all transformed and playing Whack-a-Mole together. Real shame Happiness Charge is terrible, since the director previously directed the best season of Precure, HeartCatch. Which I can sort of see reflected in the precure designs. Doki Doki is criticized primarily for Mana being the biggest mary sue in the entire franchise. She's so OP compared to everyone else and the rest of the cast all loves her so much that she's been called the Kirito of Precure, leading to plenty of jokes and art of her being a harem protagonist. https://i.imgur.com/4umnQiH.jpg There was apparently a big controversy about the midseason Cure as well, where people believed a certain character got screwed and should have become a Cure while the actual midseason Cure they ended up getting wasn't very good. Plus, Doki Doki's MAL score is artificially lowered by people who watched the shitty Glitter Force dub of it on Netflix (same with Smile) but that's unfair and I don't really count that. As for Happiness Charge, I mostly see it criticized for shitty writing in the second half of the show (I don't know exactly what kind of shitty writing since I haven't watched that far in yet) because most people I hear talk about HapCha say it's great in the first half and totally falls apart later on. I barely see any other complaints about the series, so the writing must fall off really badly to lower people's opinion of it so much. The stinger at the end was also great. Highly recommend as a companion to reading/watching Devilman, fascinating stuff. Maybe similar to another popular blind swordsman, but strong enough in design and character to not feel like a total rip off. And having the lion's share of cool chapters certainly helped. Sabu on the other hand was a total scumbag, I've never seen a protagonist as slimy as this guy. Basically spent the whole manga being as hard assed as Judge Dredd in terms of law, but had no problem ~~sleeping with and covering for criminals~~ not once, but TWICE, while he was engaged and later ~~married and expecting a kid~~.... Spreads were fantastic as usual, Ishinomori really knew how to make use of two pages. And the layouts usually had a way of drawing the eye from panel to panel, scene to scene. All that being said, the ending wasn't much of one. The two run away together, the mother stalks them down, and beats Kano even more. The religion catches on big time with young people, especially women. It grows big enough to found its own high school. Shino is made the student counsel president of the school. Eventually the mother conducts some sacrificial ritual where she cuts open Kano, drains the blood, and forces Shino to drink the blood. As for Madoka, I've never really been a fan of characters like her, plus I also felt like the sideplot of her father trying to discover aliens (he was basically a walking parody of Men In Black) was underutilized and Madoka herself could have gotten a lot more development through that subplot being used more. As for Madoka, I've never really been a fan of characters like her, plus I also felt like the sideplot of her father trying to discover aliens (he was basically a walking parody of Men In Black) was underutilized and Madoka herself could have gotten a lot more development through that subplot being used more. Don't get me wrong, they were good and they had their moments too. But when they're competing for attention and screentime with two literal aliens and arguably the most adorably hyperactive lead pink Cure of all time, of course they're going to seem a but underwhelming by comparison.</quote> ...
