It's not a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN you will experience a flat tire. Better be prepared

Not really. Their pliability that makes them grip the road remotely acceptably at speed is precisely what makes it vulnerable to punctures. If you wanted a solid tyre to be grippy enough, you'd have to make the rubber so soft it doesn't last 100 miles and you know you need to change tyres when your bumper is rubbing on the floor.

Why did you post a portable tire inflation kit? You know that isnt going to remotely help for people who get blowouts only for people out slow leaks and those are better being fixed than just aired up repeatedly
Its a good proactive tool to have to help maintain your pressure levels. one of the reason tires fail is due to improper psi. Also helps if you got a slow leak to air it up and get it to a tire shop for repair/replacing. I hate driving around asking gas stations whether or not they offer air. I can just air up in the convience of my garage

I need to get a new spare for my car. The tires are much too large to carry a full-service spare (255/50R17), and getting replacements for the limited service spare seems to be completely impossible.

I can understand if you are going to small stations, but pretty much all major gas stations or car wash stations have air, just need a buck or two to fill your tires (and most are easier to use then doing it at home since they automatically stop when they reach the proper PSI).

If you have to deal with it on the road, that is what AAA is for (or whatever the comparable service is in your area).
