Supposedly one of the first things they did when they retook all this territory was release their buddies from prison, and then execute the ISIS guys they got their hands on. I only deployed to Iraq and never made it to afghanistan so a lot of my knowledge is just based off what I learned in the army and from guys that went over there, along with just trying to keep up with events. But, for instance, theres a cultural practice of basically older men raping young boys that the Taliban outlawed. When we went over there and removed the taliban that practice accelerated again, but our policy was to let the local government deal with it. Thats great, until its the local police chief thats involved in the practice. IIRC there was a prominent legal case involving an SF dude that basically killed a guy in cold blood because he was doing that shit and thats the only way he knew to solve the problem. Anyway, based off the Talibans historical efficiency Id be surprised if ISIS could maintain any sort of hold like they did in Iraq. Iraq was perfect for that growth especially with the geographical differences. Im not confident enough for an account bet, but Id be sincerely surprised if the Taliban was responsible for that bombing. I wouldn't be surprised if this sparks some sort of cooperation between the US and Taliban.
