I'm sure yall have heard plenty of mixed things about ivermectin. Its a drug used to treat certain types of parasites. There were some early studies that it could have some anti-viral properties (in a lab) and it has some anti-inflammatory properties. Its been trialed in humans and there have been no good studies to suggest that there is any clinical benefit. There are some studies to suggest that it can help with several different clinical endpoints, and some studies suggest that it can make things worse. All of these are small studies with significant limitations in their methods and really can't be use to draw any conclusions. There are some meta-analysis - which basically combines all these small studies to draw conclusions. The problem with doing this is, if all your small studies are garbage, then your overall conclusions will be garbage. Some of these meta analysis suggested an overall benefit so people ran with it without putting it in context. Now we know that one of the bigger studies that suggested one of the most benefits was seriously flawed and has been retracted due to plagiarism and falsifying data. These were included in these meta-analysis studies so those are now being re-done. One of the most well respected systematic reviews, the cochrane database did a review of all the data and showed that there was really no benefit and basically determined that most of those small studies are straight trash. Again, cochrane is probably the most well respected place for these kinds of review articles that evaluate quality of data and summarize it.

Again, there is no good quality study or data to suggest that Ivermectin helps in any way.

So if anyone says Ivermectin is the cure, they are fucking stupid af and hopefully they dont reproduce cuz the last thing we need is more fucking stupid people in this country.

It's not just for animals, it's for any mammal with parasites, which includes humans

Well if someone wants to inform people about a trending topic online, Id like to think they would post some sort of a source other than my ass and get defensive when asked about their source(Im not the only one who asked for a source.) Especially when said poster(aka TC) is a notable troll and posts false information/lies about his life all the time. If you dont know who tc is, Id ask around. The people just want a source from an internet troll.

Everything I posted is 100% accurate. I am literally asking u guys to copy paste any statement from my OP and I will post the source. The fact that people are incapable of doing that just proves their brains are smooth. Perfect example is BMC who is losing his mind about sources. Its clear he's just trying to gas light because he knows if he challenges me in any substantial way he's going to get his ass rekt harder than if he were to take Ivermectin in horse doses.

Background and Objective
Several studies have shown that ivermectin, an antiparasitic agent licensed to treat onchocerciasis and strongyloidiasis, has in vitro antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties and reports have indicated clinical improvement with use of ivermectin in patients with COVID-19.
Key Points
The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel's position is that data are insufficient to recommend for or against ivermectin's use. Key points underlying this statement are:

• Most clinical trials had small sample sizes.
• The dosages of ivermectin varied among studies and, in most, were markedly lower than required to achieve plasma levels mirroring the concentrations that enabled in vitro antiviral activity.
• Several of the randomized trials were open-label and unblinded.
• Many studies involved concomitant medications that could affect the analysis of ivermectin's safety and efficacy.
• Many studies did not have clear outcome measures and did not carefully assess COVID-19 severity.

Having an already approved, readily available oral drug that could be repurposed to treat COVID-19 would be immensely beneficial so it's quite understandable that, in the midst of this pandemic, clinicians are considering any agent that might have efficacy. Still (as has been shown with hydroxychloroquine), data from well-designed clinical trials are essential to guide treatment. The Panel points out that such evidence does not yet exist for ivermectin. However, it's worth noting that some 100 million individuals in tropical and subtropical climates are living with chronic strongyloidiasis, putting them at risk for developing the Strongyloides hyperinfection syndrome (a risk escalated by use of high-dose steroids and other immunosuppressive agents in the setting of COVID-19). In such geographic regions, adjunctive prophylactic ivermectin could help prevent this complication associated with treatment of severe COVID-19.

I'll be honest, as someone who recently graduated residency and possibly have to go through the pandemic again as an attending, just don't have sympathy for these people. Just tell them the facts and let it be. You will burn yourself out. Just put your head down, do your job and go home. You can't help people who don't want to help themselves. It's a free country. If they want to die while being on a ventilator it's on them.
