All the scenes featuring the "Power Rangers" are just stock footage from a Japanese show, wtf? So the whole show is pretty much like a high school project.
Even worse is that the actress for the yellow ranger died at such a young age depresses me.

I found that out long ago. Sentai/tokusatsu shows had been around in Japan for many years before it was brought over. There was even a live action Spider-Man show in that vein.

In the 90s people didn't cry racism/sexism over everything and actually saw things for what they were instead of trying to make a conspiracy over every harmless little thing, and should've stayed that way tbh.

Bro, they could have cast anyone, for any role. The odds of two characters syncing up like that by pure coincidence are microscopic.

When I learned of this fact, a long time ago mind you, everything made more sense because they would often end up in parts of the city or countryside that didn't resemble any area of Angel Grove outside of their costumes.

It also made a ton of sense why the green ranger footage almost always had him by himself.

So many things clicked for me and I appreciated the show more and wanted to watch the originals too.

Yea, and the city buildings when in the megazord didn't look anything like what we would've seen when not morphed but they did look an awful lot like what I had seen in Godzilla movies before.

You *just* learned that? But no, not *all* of the costumed scenes came from the Japanese show, but most did, and the same was true for other shows at the time.

Unless you're consciously casting for the sake of consciously casting, casting her as as the Yellow Ranger made more sense both from a thematic sense (since Kimberly was the more girly character) and from a practical sense (since Kimberly/Amy Jo Johnson had bigger boobs, and the Yellow Ranger was originally a guy).

As Zack/Walter Emmanuel whatever, it was between blue and black (since red was going to the leader), which is a 50-50. And if they cast a white guy as the black ranger when there was an African-American ranger, people would have mocked that decision both today and at the time because you can't win.

The ranger colors were already set in stone because they had to use the footage. Their choices at that point were either to not hire a black male (which they didn't when they replaced the rangers who wanted more money) or to go with what they had.

Also along side the black and yellow ranger. Jason the red ranger looked like he coulda had native american in him. And the preppy girl is a pink ranger. And Tommy the white guy become the WHITE POWER ranger and the strongest of the group.

Billy i know was in a another series just not as a ranger. Think he was like the zords mechanic or something. But I recall seeing he's shown up in more episodes than any other character. Think bulk and skull came after him. Or where above him and Billy was just the most reocurring character that was a ranger. I cant remember right now

Edit: i was wrong it was Tommy. Jason david Frank. But Billy did show up a lot more than those who left over pay disputes.

He loves power rangers. He was pushing hard for a movie starring him iirc but it ended up just becoming the battle for the grid game. Which he did the VA of his character in.

He even played his characters in the Super power beat down web shows

Well, I don't think there will be a sequel, but the same director started working on another reboot movie in 2019 and still working on it AFAIK, so, at least there will be another go at it.

I actually forget what his cameo appereance was in the movie. I likely missed Amy jo cause she always looked like the typical white girl to me.

It was allright.

I wish the movie idea that became the battle for the grid happened though. The main villain being a ranger himself and the most powerful (Tommy somehow combined the green and white coins) was pretty cool. Outfit looked cool too
