Well there's Deadpool. Of course the comics have always shied away from showing his homosexual side very strongly, and the movies even more. For what it's worth Ryan Reynolds has been pushing really hard to have Deadpool be openly bi in the next movie... we'll see where that goes though.

Im not sure what that means. How is acting straight different than your true self? Like you want to comment on same sex people being hot?

Exactly. It effects more than you think. From fashion to music, a person in the closet is constantly asking "Is this too queer?" (or is this queer enough if they are in the bi closet pretending to be gay).

I want my thoughts on LGBTQ+ issues to be considered and not dismissed as the ravings of a cishet. I didn't want to settle for pretending to "just be an ally."

I wanted to wear mini-skirts and make-up and listen to lady gaga without people thinking I was "really a gay guy who is lying to himself." No, I was bi and lying to everyone else, not myself.

One just wants to be visible. Everyone else is visible, why not me?

As far as being able to comment on hot guys, even "straight" guys can already do that. I actually do it less now, probably, but I've also had to turn down my sexual comments, if anything, because it's already hypersexualized (which I don't have a problem with, but I'm a hentai-desu and that's not every bi person I discovered).

"Acting straight" is ignoring your guy friends and co-workers making homophobic jokes or dropping f-slurs. It's shutting up when others speak-up about queer rights, issues, politics. It's about consciously not doing feminine mannerism or sitting with legs crossed "like a girl." It's about not having the confidence to wear a sailor moon t-shirt. It's about making sure your web history doesn't have anything bi or queer in it. It's second-guessing literally everything you do, to make sure it passes the "straight" test, even if it doesn't actually change your behavior, it's having to check, censor, and be stressed about coming off as too queer.

It was terrible! I'm reeeeeaaaaally not describing how terrible it was. It's kind of like: what if you knew you would explode if you said the word "terrible"? You'd constantly have to filter EVERYTHING to make sure you didn't explode. It's that level of stress, kinda.

It was literally driving me crazy, but I had gone so long it seemed easier to just ignore it until I met a friend online that just did not give a fuck and was out there being queer-in-your-face so I decided enough was enough.

Now I can be stressed about all the other problems in my life.

It's just a different type of brain. I literally have a hard time understanding how people can only be attracted to 1 gender...like, why does it matter so much to you? I understand with logic, but not with emotions on this one.

Oh okay. I guess I didn't really associate that stuff with being bi. People being shitty bigots should be called out by everyone. I guess I don't have enough of a social life to be able to relate to most of that. But not being able to dress how I want is depressing though so I get that. But to me that was a genderfluid issue not a bi one.

So like how do guys and girls differ in relationships?

In a million different ways lol

In hetero relationships there are gendered social expectations which can vary between couples

In gay relationships gendered expectations kind of get thrown out the window, but ultimately the couple decides how their dynamics play out. Could be similar to hetero relationships if the couple so desires with each person taking on a somewhat traditionally gendered role or it could be nothing like that.

Gay relationships are like choose your own adventure

You'll probably never get approached by a woman, but gay dudes will definitely approach you

I chickened out

it's ok, everyone chickens out 100s of times before they do come out, if they ever do.

I had to practice saying it dozens of times and chickened out a bunch also.

But hey, you came out to dozens of weirdos on CE, and that's something.

Don't worry so much about the people you know. If you make a new friend, maybe tell them.
