Good to hear. I had never heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy or any of their characters before that movie came out and it was excellent.

Really good, but not going to call it great. Without spoiling much, the first two acts were great and had some of the best action that's been in Marvel films. The third act kind of dragged a bit but wasn't enough to not make this... my second favorite Marvel origin film? Behind GotG of course

but if that's your problem with IM3 you're ignoring so much that's wrong with the film. Mandarin had nothing to do with what makes that movie bad.

Shang-Chi belated, absolutely loved it. Definitely in my top MCUs and honestly movies overall tbqh (not that I'm I'm massive movie buff)

First third of it was definitely more action-packed and it was really thrilling for me. Particularly the bus sequence shown a lot in trailers, given how much it was shown I wasn't expecting to be so wowed by it, and the BGM during was a great fit. Overall I was really feeling the soundtrack.

on phone so I'll keep it at spoiler free commentary for now but yeah definitely beat my expectations - very much welcome after Black Widow, good to see post-Endgame can still knock 'em out.

I will say Death Dealer's a bit of a disappointment though. I was really surprised just how insignificant he was, and then a soul sucker just takes him out while Razorfist's still standing right there, who I wasn't expecting to last much more than the bus scene.

Finally got around to watching What If Episode 4. Huh, that reminded me a lot of Steins;Gate in a good way.

music stopped being good after like half an hour. Third act could have used some dope

What If 5 weakest ep in a while, I dunno I feel there was just too much going on and I wasn't really that interested with it feeling like a standard zombie movie for the most part. Got better towards the end with WandaVision though, that part got pretty cool... and then kinda just ended.

What If 5 I know it was an abrupt ending, but I just got a good laugh at zombie Thanos with the gauntlet. Was a fine way to end it, imo. It was clearly not going to be a happy ending when they got to Wakanda, so ending before it got entirely depressing (and on a funny shot of zombie Thanos) was probably a good decision, especially after how depressing the last episode ended.

also I really enjoyed that one. I wasnt too excited going into it, but it ended up being a lot of fun and also occasionally fucked up. It was cool to see the basically normal MCU version of these characters get to interact with people they didnt really talk to in the movies. Im liking the animation style way more than I thought I would based on the trailers too. Im on board for some other stuff like this.

and this episode doubled down on a couple characters from earlier episodes: doctor stranges cape is secretly the best hero (legitimately it probably has more screentime in this series now than any actual Avenger)
and
everything is kind of Hank Pyms fault again. It feels like theyre making up for him not being the creator of Ultron by making him the root of all these bad universes.

One thing is clear, and that's Wanda and Vision are truly a match made in hell. There's not a person they won't eat or enslave in order to keep their love alive or undead.

Yeah, that was easily the best episode yet. Good use of a massive cast, and great use of a major Marvel storyline we wouldn't otherwise get to see. It definitely outshone the rest of the rather pedantic episodes of this series so far.

I am beyond over the zombie apocalypse trope. Its been done to death and got old well over a decade ago.

Marvel Zombies came out in like 2007. As a What If? episode, this exactly how to use the multiverse concept.

just saw episode 4 of what if...? wow, that was amazing.

the part where strange is trying to save christine over and over again reminded me of the scene in groundhog day where phil keeps trying to save the bum from dying. groundhog day is one of my favorite movies of all time so that's a huge plus in my book.

this episode actually felt a lot like the steve ditko era dr. strange comics, particularly the scene where strange is talking to the watcher.

props to disney for having the balls to give the episode a bad ending. i thought for sure strange was going to realize he could never save christine (saying something like "i learned today that even as a sorcerer, you cannot fix everything") and the episode was going to have a typical disney ending with him joking around with wong or something.

It was great to have a Spidey-centric episode, and Iron Man has just had no luck in this series so far.

idk why they made the climax so dark though. Found it hard to tell what was going on sometimes

Also not sure why Ben Kingsley is now from Liverpool and using this not-great scouse accent rather than being a southerner like he was in iron man 3? Seemed a bizarre and unpleasant change

Other than that, good action, good acting, and good characters. Villain was great too. Weird to me how Wenwu and Strange Supreme almost paralleled each other (with the only difference being that Strange "won") and they came out at almost the same time.

Really liked the first 2/3rds of the movie but Jesus Christ I am so over the Marvel formula for the third act. It's getting headache inducing at this point.

Also Awkwafina is not a good actress please stop casting her in movies.
